Essential to complete...no, I don't think you HAVE to have it completed, but it may cost you some content.
It is important to learn to make and KEEP hard saves daily or so while you are playing a game if it will let you. DAI let's you have 250 saves in the folder, and as many as you want in backup folders so you can save in new slots as many times as you want.
You need about 7-8 more years on your clock to get her free...so close...
Good luck, maybe someone else will have a better idea, but didn't see anything even in Nexus that would help you. Only mods I saw fixed it BEFORE you started a mission, or one just jumped your time forward a week and then backward...which wouldn't help you.
Too bad you can't turn the clock back to the earliest you can go and make it turn the counter into negatives by being too big or something...You know sort of like making an odometer flip back to 00,000 miles cause it didn't read the 100k parts...
