Community AdminI saw this once too, and it did seem to be related to connectivity. Basically I could hear what was happening and see other players running around, but I couldn't interact, and this was after a very long black loading screen.
Curiously, I couldn't reproduce it at a later date, the MP has worked fine for me since. What location are you in, and are you using a VPN to connect? If you are using one to unlock the game early, note that it doesn't need to be active once the game starts.
I'm in Southeast Asia, specifically Brunei. I been playing with a friend in Australia, and when he hosts the game, this particular bug happens to me five out of five times. It has happened every now and then for public games I joined, some with VPN others without VPN, though significantly less. What you have described more or less is what I had experienced.
Now, what I been doing is to just join my friend's game after he has loaded into the game, thereby skipping the cutsene. We play with little trouble since, but it is annoying for obvious reasons. I obviously cannot do this for public games. For most part, this kind of half-disconnect/half-connected state makes no sense to me. I mean, I rather get booted out straight away if I'm not connected to the host.
