System resets randomly when entering Inventory and other menus on GTX 970

I have the 770 and have the same problem.  But it doesnt crash my system, it just crashes me to my desktop.  Doesnt happen alot ,but it does happen.  Worst was the customize Skyhold menu.  Crashed 5 times.  Sytem reboot fixed it.  This game just has issues and needs a patch.

That's why I found it weird that mine doesn't seem to be a common issue as crashing the whole system would indicate a hardware or driver issue but the way action that causes the crash just doesn't seen like hardware related. Funny thing is my 770 works perfectly fine except being slow during combat.

Not sure if it is relevant. Someone else mentioned they needed a motherboard bios update for their gtx970.

the resets are caused (most likely) from over drawing your power supply.

check your wattage and amperage draws on your GPUs and CPU.

make sure they don't pull too much Power/Amps.

like in my case...

Antec 900w 80%+ Bronze cetified 

4x 12V+ rails 40 amps each across 850w

GPUs dual r9270 DCUII OC 2GB each draws 500W  38 Amps total (1000w @ 76Amps)

CPU 125w

technically I should upgrade my power supply, just due to power draw of gpus alone.

you should also take into consideration, that every thing in your system draws power.

mother board, ram, case and cpu fans, cooling units. It all adds up.

when you have settings on ultra, the power/Amperage draw probably exceeds 

what your power supply can handle, and therefore turns itself off and restarts.

this is VERY BAD FOR YOUR SYSTEM.

not only can it corrupt data, when it resets,

but it can damage your hardware as well.

Double and triple check the power requirements of your hardware,

and make sure they don't exceed the limit of what your power supply, can supply. 

not only that, but if your power supply can't supply enough power to all your hardware, 

you cannot utilize it to it's full potential... i.e running games with ultra settings, etc.

Turn off auto restart on system errors in Windows and see if you get a BSOD and note down what the error is.

I'm running into the same issue more or less, i dont know if its inventory that triggers it i more often have problems on fast travels and in random explorations, after computer restart the error message is as follow... "Window encountered unexpected error bla bla" then..

Is that related to PSU?

if you are getting blue screen errors something is definelty wrong with your machine!

Did you build this system yourself, or install the video card yourself?

Is the CPU seated properly?

ram modules seated properly?

gfx card seated properly?

is the heatsync on the cpu making proper contact?

is a fan not fully seated in/on it's connection?

are all power connections snug and properly set?

did you just recent install any new software, programs or games?

Drivers?

I have no idea what the blue screen is being caused from.

it could be either hardware or software related. without seeing the full screen message. or the log file.

I apologize for being vauge, but I can't even begin to guess.

it's the blah, blah, blah part of that message i'm interested in :D

can you do me a favor and go into your task manager,

click on the services tab,

then on the PID column, and sort from lowest to highest

and tell me what program is listed with the PID of 1033? 

if nothing with that PID shows up,

run the game in windowed mode at 1024x768

then check the services tab in the task manager again.

and see if the infamous 1033 shows up.

f it shows up this time, you know what service you need to change settings to.
