This game does not load up for PS3 Super Slim systems (Resolved)

Hello EA,

I bought this game 2 months ago for my PS3. At the time I owned a Japanese white PS3 fat model and had no problems playing this game.

Well eventually my PS3 would get YLOD one too many times so I recently got rid of it and bought a PS3 Super Slim, and now I find I cannot play DA:I at all.

Insert the DA:I disc and launch it the game will get to the 'Synchronizing Trophies' message at get to 100% and freeze.  After 3+ minutes of frozen it will kick back to the home screen of the PS3 XMB.

There is a very big thread about freezing on the Bioware forums, and I'm making the report here so hopefully something can be done about this problem.

Has anyone tested this game on the current PS3 model dubbed the Super Slim?

  • Well I feel like a buffoon.  The game indeed does load up on the Super Slim PS3.

After useless other methods, like deleting the game install data, rebuilding the database, etc.

After playing some MGS4, I decided to give DA:I another attempt.  Something told me to look at the business surface of the disc and wipe off any finger print marks.
I looked and there was indeed a few oily smuges on the disc which I wiped off using micro-fiber cloth.

Inserted game and it loaded up past the synchronizing trophies.

I can't believe that was the root of the freeze.  Disc smudges.

  • Bump.  I can't be the only one with this game on a PS3 Super Slim.  Any word on a fix EA/Bioware?  or Refund?

Chances are you won't get an official response here, since this is forum is community driven. Maybe someone on this forum will know of a solution, but there's mostly PC users here, so it may take a while before you get a response.

EA only hands out refunds for PC copies. If you bought the game on a disk, you may get a refund at the store.

I thought BluRay handled smudges and scratches pretty well.

Glad you got it fixed. The obvious solution is usally the best one.
