Trespasser DLC Crash while starting a fight PC

I have crash while starting a fight with qunari on the bridge in Fen'harel sanctuary. I think that crash causes some magical fighting ability, maybe Fade Step or Lightning. First game freezes for a m...

I have this issue too. I played through all of the dlc when it first came out but had to restart the game at least 100 times...thanks to crashing to desktop. I was only able to get through by changing my controlled character to Cole...not sure why. I still crashed but it was easier to get through. I told myself once my hardware upgrade happens I'll be fine and can replay it. And thing is.... my hardware at the time was nothing to scoff at. And no I don't use mods.

Hardware upgrade happened ... I went from a really kickbutt computer to a REALLY REALLY kickbutt computer. Still crashes. I found running in compatibility mode and closing all browser windows may have helped (or was my imagination)... But since it's consistent I am going to try this ability change fix and see if it works for me too. Thanks all for posting this stuff and figuring out what the problems are. If it works for me I will update this post ....

Update: yup. That did the trick alright! I took Lunge and Slash off and now I can finally play my completionist run. Thanks so much guys!

I had two initial issues.

1. Same as everyone else. When I started playing on my mage I tend to crash in the middle of combat

2. The fights I actually managed to get through left me stuck in combat.

I have no mods and I have at no time used mods for the game since I bought it.

After disabling Lung&slash and Hold the line on my warriors I have had no further problem with either of these two issues(so far at least).

EDIT: Please also note that I did not remove any ov the new upgrades I am using for any other skills. I only turned off the two abilities named above.

This seems to be a problem with how Ambient Occlusion and post processing are handled in the game. If you can get the game to load into the menu adjust those settings so Ambient Occlusion is set no higher than SSAO and post processing no higher than low. This should keep it from crashing.

If the game will not load at all, the you have to go into your folder <USER name> /Documents/Bioware/Dragonageinquisition/saves.

In this folder is a file "Profileoptions_profile"
Delete this file (If will be recreated when you run the game again)
This will reset all of your game options to their default settings.

Once you get into your game menu adjust all your game options back to your liking with the exception of the two mentioned above.
