Unable to save on rocks at last Hinterland shard.

I'm sure you know which shard I mean.  The one where for some reason Bioware decided it was really fun to spend hours jumping at a rock face instead of actually playing the game. 

I keep getting part way up, and then I save.  But if I fall and try to reload, I am ALWAYS all the way at the bottom of the rocks, not where I was when I saved.

Is there a cheat?  Seriously, this is not fun.
