Who's big Idea was to remove Healing magic and Simplify Tactics
I know it was mentioned by developers that it was their aim to return to pen and paper "style" of older games and as a result this would make game harder and so on.
It’s not that simple. As a HUGE fan of Dragon Age Origins + Awakening, then not so much fan of DA 2, while it was still a good game, there were attempts to turn it into something new, and now we see this.
I personally do not understand, who's big idea was to remove healing magic as a separate tree or at least certain abilities scattered amongst the trees. Currently you fully rely on all those buffs and auras and healing POTS to sustain your group, and some item buffs thrown into the mix.
Sure it may work on paper but in a current state of the game with its MESSY combat system and constant random encounters across all the maps, it doesn’t work that way.
The dumbed down tactics screen, where before you could fine tune EACH of the members of your group to whatever you want him to do EXACTLY now is some sort of random spell mix that you see being cast by your party members, and No I will not go into tactics mode for each and every small encounter.
Same goes for boss encounters. With previous game versions I managed to fine tune the performance of my group to my liking and play style. Now it seems to be impossible. In previous games many difficult encounters could have been beaten by wise usage of abilities and especially healing abilities, now some encounters you simply cannot finish as you are either:
A) Too low level for it.
B) Need better items.
I finished all previous games on highest difficulties, but now it seems that it is impossible, or problematic, or maybe I am very bad at this game.
However each and every encounter I have is literally messy mosh pit of spells where you literally spray and pray.
Tactics mode does not work. Example: You put Cassandra to Defend our main character and well she does that Perfectly. She will not Touch Anyone unless you Either tell whole group to focus a certain enemy, or you get hit. Then she does something. Or situations when you see her charging opposite direction from the enemy is simply hilarious.
Who's idea was that? Why dumb down the game? Was healing management too hard for someone?
You could even complete previous games without a healer in group, fully relying on Pots and so on. Creating a high damage burst groups which used healing only when they were nearly dead, and had nasty high HP tanks. That worked. However a more classic group consisted of Tank, damage dealers and a healer.
Why do that, why remove a whole literally Class from the game, and Forcing everyone to rely on buffs and pots.
Does anyone share my thoughts on this topic, or am I the only one that doesn't like this reduction for no reason of games flexebility? Maybe it changes further into the game?
As so far I feel more like I am playing something that is not Dragon Age, rather Assasins Creed of sorts.
Do not get me wrong, graphics, sounds, voice acting, environment is beautiful, I guess plot as well, however gameplay, So far I do not like at all.
Due to that I have my faith for modders once again.
