for one the lack of romance is a cultural choice made by politicians after decades of gaming. You can't blame EA for not having sex scenes. Now two the game should be seen for what it always has been and thats a half disinterested attempt by EA to steal part of the rpg market Live service or no it will never have a spirited development leader that cares about what their doing. Forgive me if i categorize this wrong but I believe it was Mark Darrah that said started DA for money reasons. So just quit believing so deeply in the spirit of these EA devs and move on
Why is it whenever people talk about a game having lacking romances there's always the guy that immediately assumes you're talking about sex scenes?
It' not about "believing deeply". It's about having invested a TON of time in these games that we love only to have them be destroyed by Suits in EA, and Bioware itself allowing it to happen but ensuring their poorly executed agenda was in place. Very clearly DAO had "spirited leadership" since it's still a beloved RPG by DA fans.
As far "quitting believing deeply": you sound like an abused dog. You know your going get hit with the rolled up newspaper no matter what you do and you just accept it. That's utterly absurd to me. We invest our time into these games, which means we invest parts of our lives into them. We also invest parts of our finances into these games, which also means we are sacrificing those finances to play them.
I do not believe it's wrong for players to expect a modicum of respect from publishers and developers, and to expect them to not treat us like idiots "that will buy anything we throw in front of them with 'Dragon Age' written on the cover". We will not. We also shouldn't tolerate bad dialogue, short cuts and laziness. I have standards and the fact that neither EA nor Bioware get that and just think of us as mindless wallets with no concept of what's quality or trash is offensive. They should respect us and treat us accordingly when they make a product.
I know a lot of people that are hoping ME4 fails catastrophically like DAV did. Then maybe EA would either sell them off or shut them down and sell Dragon Age off, which let's face it- if they don't give a **bleep** about the property they should have done that years ago instead of trying to swindle fans with a half-assed live service piece of garbage.
At this point EA and Bioware had burned many bridges with DA fans and it all comes down to lack of respect for their product and the people who pay for it, illustrated by their animosity towards the bad reviews at the beginning and that turned into abject apathy. All they would have had to do to mend those bridges is fix the **bleep** game by giving players what they expected, which was a well-written game with great dialogue, interesting characters, and all the depth we've come to expect from a DA game. But no- they've quadrupled down on being alright with making mediocrity, and they don't deserve the loyalty players have had in the past.

Mark Darrah said in his Q&A that EA doesn't sell IPs or studios.

Yeah that tells me all I need to know about EA. That's fine. Now anytime I see "EA" attached to a game I just keep scrolling. I'm not going to get invested in another game series of theirs just be **bleep** on by them again. They can keep DA and leave it in the refuse pile where they've apparently had it the entire time.
