PC Crashes every time I launch Dragon Age: The Veilguard

What components did you have before the upgrade?

Please create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window. 

I believe I've attached what you need.

Previous components were:

PSU: EVGA 650w

GPU: XFX RX-5800P8D V8.0

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 

I have also since deleted the shaders folder, reflashed BIOS, run multiple overheating tests, and went through to check for updates on every single driver. It's still crashing my whole PC moments after launch. Also tried launching the game in DX 11, that didn't work either.

I had this on my very first launch and occasionally afterwards.

Clearing my shader cache seems to resolve it for a while, rebuilding the cache seems to take around 75 seconds.

Please preform a clean boot and test the Game in clean boot mode.

In clean boot:
- Make sure the "EABackgroundService" remains enabled under point 3 in the guide.
- Make sure your virus scanner and other security software and also Afterburner and similar software is disabled.
- Make sure McAfee WebAdvisor software is disable or deinstalled and that your GPU & CPU are not overclocked.
- Make sure only your Mouse and keyboard are connected to the PC

Thank you for your response. I did everything as you said, and unfortunately, it crashed my whole pc right away again. 

Hey @Sophila9, Thanks for trying those steps. To check, do you have Veilguard installed on your C drive or E drive? 

Also, to confirm, do you have any other programs running when you attempt to play Veilguard? The game requires 16 GB of RAM on any setting tier, and I noticed your system only has 16 GB. So, if you attempt to run another program or Windows needs to use some system resources, we might be going past the resources your system has, leading to this issue.

**LOAD SCREEN FREEZING**

This is a shader compiling issue.

So, this issue has been affecting many ever since the game launched.

I had this issue, ensured everything was updated (BIOS, GPU drivers, etc.), run as administrator, compatibility modes, restarts, disabling various graphics features, etc., etc., etc.

None of it worked.

Many folks mentioned deleting (or simply removing) the shader_cache folder in the game files and it worked.

As a workaround, it caused some performance issues but the game was playable, until the most recent update.

Now, if you attempt this work around it says there are "Corrupted Files" and you have to run the repair if you want to play.

So that workaround is out the window.

Spoke with EA Support earlier about this issue and was told it's a known issue causing problems for lots of various hardware configurations.

Supposedly a fix is in the works and set to be released sometime "soon."

Added the usual "some people are having issues because of outdated BIOS causing crash during shader compilation" bit. No help there.

Also mentioned that some people apparently have had issues with nVidia graphics driver versions newer than Version 560.94 (tried a rollback to this version as well, didn't help).

All in all, it sounds like some of us are simply out of luck until they release a fix....

Hope this helps. Hate having waited a decade for this game to not be able to play it without major instability issues that seem to have gone unaddressed in their very first patch.

Hoping the patch not taking so long to come.

Got some many crash even with deleting all the sharder_cache files. Need to put all setting at the lowest setting for playing around 30min before a crash (no message and sometimes DirectX message).
The game run perfectly fine (got 60fps with no drops at 1440p) when I put all setting at the maximum (excepts RT who is at selectif) but can just playing around 10min.

All my drivers and my Bios are at the newest versions (even my GPU, 7900XTX, who I take the beta drivers for trying) and also try a lot of things (clean windows install, change NVME for where the game is install, run in administrator / compatibility with another Windows version, play in windows or fullscreen mode, etc...).

Praying for getting the patch soon because it's really frustrating for waiting many week to be able to play a game in a normal state.
