Why Veilguard looks like Disney game?

Why EA took the Dark Fantasy touch of the game, and turned into a princess game? Dragon Age was never meant to be a fairytale game, it has all the aspects of the Dark medieval times, why the hell they made look like a Little Pony game?

Is it because the new Director of the game?

  • No, it's because some youtuber wants you to believe that.

Yes, screenshots from Dragon Age Inquisition (notice the dark).

That's Inquisition and the old Director stayed on topic of the game and didn't try to include their personal life and choices in the game.

Inquisition still maintained the political stuff from the DA Origins and DA2; Which include the Dark fantasy of the game, the genre and story.

Dark Fantasy is a genre and Veilguard seems to be astray from story or the genre from the old games. Just look at the clean shaved, smooth baby of the new Qua

I will. tomorrow. It will be nice to see smooth faces. although I'm quite sure that can be customize and perhaps for once I get to create a good looking character without much effort. Dark Fantasy missing in a game which literally have "veil" in the name. You know "veil", that border between fade and real word, which from time to time leaks all kind of demons so the player can get rid of them...

Not much for an advice but still, you don't like a food, don't eat it but take in consideration that some people might actually enjoy it. At least taste it instead of letting some one else to tell you what to like.

It might be more about this game than you can find out from some one who's paid to say anything on youtube as long as get view-count.

Back on topic, it would be fun to drop some unicorns from fade rifts.

    This may be helpful: 😌

ESRB Rating: Mature 17+ Blood, Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain, explosions, and blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes also depict instances of violence and blood: characters impaled on swords; shriveled corpses amid bloodstained torture devices. Some scenes depict corpses lying in pools/large splatters of blood; one boss battle takes place in a large pool/room full of blood. The game contains some sexual material... etc.

I was just walking amongst corpses on spatters of blood.

But yeah, it's totally fairy tale land, where is my pumpkin carriage?

Also tbh, if I think of the word "Dark", the Dragon Age series wouldn't be the first thing I think of, and until some random YouTuber said it on one of its videos (and everyone else parroted it), it was never even a thing for me (and it still isn't).

I am rather liking the game so far, I am having a technical problem which I already reported, but other than that, I am looking forward to my next session.

  • I will see with my own eye how the game is and just how I manage to avoid any kind of campaign about this game I can do it for the next 19 hours. I'm sure I will regret more if I pay attention to all kind of Y-bullies and miss the game instead of see it for myself. It did happened before and I promised "never again".

Let me see for myself, let any one see for themselves.

Looking forward for unicorns (thanks for spoiler) or other Disney's leftovers and I promise to send you a post card from Tevinter (the place ruled by mages who accidentally loves luxury and have the power/magic power to gain it).

They left Frostbite Engine in order to use Unreal Engine 5 (designed for Fortnite?) and the development was restarted 2 or 3 times. Only 5 years after Anthem (2019), I think they couldn't go further.

Starfield was in development for 25 years, Cyberpunk 2077 was for 12 years, Dragon Age Origins/DA2 took 7 years and Inquisition for 3 years.

I'm pretty sure the game engine is still Frostbite (one of the reasons to purchase the game).

Lost of "Dark Fantasy touch" in exchange for "Little Pony game" based on "clean shaved, smooth baby of the new Qua" (probably a qunari which are known for "never shave" policy - as they were in DA2 and DA3) and some mixed up engines that happened 5 years after Anthem.

Ok, time for me to stop because we get nowhere.

And I'm quite happy about that now that I've seen the technical review by Digital Foundry. A game that runs this well is uncommon on Unreal Engine 4 or 5. I couldn't play through Jedi Survivor because of the stutter.

They took away the Mature theme of the game to push ideology of the real world on Fantasy game, that's what dissapoiting.

It look like they trying to push personal lifes instead just follow lore of the game and create something good and keep the game tones as they did before.

All 3 before this one looked like a real Dark Fantasy game, if the struggles and prejudices common for such theme to create something colorful and disney like.

Tevinter wasn't suppossed to be all pretty and fairytale like: it has slavery, prejudice and everything else.

And besides the mature look of the game it's gone

The writers have previously also based parts of the game on personal experiences. For instance, Dorian's character quest in Inquisition was very personal to the character's writer, David Gaider (who was also lead writer). They follow the old adage of "write what you know."

As for the dark themes in Tevinter clashing with the art style: That's possible, but it also reminds me of the Renaissance depictions of ancient Rome, which made the Roman Empire look a lot more glamorous than it was below the surface.

At first glance I'm not too fond of the art style they chose, as well as the inconsistency between character and environmental designs. That said, I will judge it when I play it. I was also not keen on the art style in Return to Monkey Island until I played that game, so maybe it grows on me as it did for some of the people who reviewed the game.

Dude, they destroyed a studio and game for all that crap of "real world" politics and ideology. Idk why they let that happen, I guess this the end for DA franchise thanks to Corinne.

Dark fantasy is not about colors on the game. Dark fantasy is the story of the game, it's what happens on the world game: slavery, prejudice, wars, etc; Not "pulling a barv" or whatever that was, dark fantasy games are not fairytales and about heroes is about the lesser evil and trying to avoid the worse things.

They allowed the director push their own agenda on a great franchise so that they could feel good about themselves and not thinking about their customers the gamers

The Loss of all Dark Fantasy on the game is incredulous, everyone knows this bs of gay and trans, I don't give a **bleep** about other ppl sexuality, it's not my business. It always has been in DA franchise, that's cool of the studio. But don't force bad dialogues, bad scripting just to promote this.

Gamers just want somehting good to pass their time

I am a Gamer, probably way longer than you are.
I am just here to make clear that you don't speak for me. 🙂

Furthermore, the game is not even out yet, but you're already sure that there is no Dark fantasy left in it?
How about playing the game first and judge later?

It's your right to complain as customer just as it is your right to use this in case the product doesn't meet your expectations but stop talking on players' name. It is not for you to decide how a game should be and who should oversee the development. Is not for you to decide which game should be avoided. Even more so when you talk about a game which is hours away from official release, so for sure you didn't play it to have any idea about how it is.

Edit: Surprisingly there is something about EA which offers me comfort. (link attached or you might miss the reference as you did with the screenshots)

  • I'm all for Disney/princess games. But that doesn't suit Dragon Age at all. It looks so visually unappealing
