I see that I'm not the only one with this crackling issue and it also stutters the game when it happens for me... particularly during combat.
I have a:
13th Gen i9-13900HK CPU
32 GB Ram / Windows 11 / playing on SSD
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 GPU
This has had me banging my head against the wall. It doesn't seem like this rig should be having static/stuttering or the like. But maybe I'm expecting too much from my system.
The ONLY thing that has corrected the issue for me is:
- in the Nvidia control panel, set Power Management to Maximum Performance
- in the Nvidia control panel, set the Max Framerate to 60
- and, let the Nvidia App optimize the game settings to recommended
After doing this, I do not have the issues any longer. Now, I am very disappointed that setting the max framerate to 60 is one of the things that is the driving force behind the fix, but at least I can play the game without problems now.
But... if someone has some other idea or solution, I'm all ears. I've scanned the posts and it's possible I missed something that I haven't tried, but so far this is what has worked for me. Willing to hear any other suggestions that would allow me to run this game with a higher framerate.
Keep in mind, the Nvidia App optimization has everything set to Ultra, so at least the settings aren't dumbed down to make this work. The main issue I am disappointed with is the max framerate, I suppose.

Setting Power Management to Maximum Performance seems to have ameliorated the issue for me as well.

I tried to make these adjusts to my Nvidia settings and it did not fix the problem for me, unfortunately. Instead, setting framerate to a fixed 60 FPS seems to have induced screen tearing (running through Minrathous, the ground textures now move around like waves.)

You know, I realized later that I put 60 FPS, but I had to go to a 30 FPS max framerate in order to fix it. It's pitiful to play at 30 FPS in this age, especially with what I call a higher-end system, but nonetheless that is what fixed it.
