Crashing and freezing on PC was worse after patch - resolved now
I hope this helps someone in some way. I do not have proof of what fixed my problem, but hopefully there are enough clues here to help.
I am playing on PC
Windows 11 Pro
Intel I9-12900k
Asus Maximus Z690 Extreme
MSI Suprim 4090
Since game was released, I have been blue screening, crashing, computer restarting and freezing constantly. Sometimes on game launch, sometimes after 30 minutes of gameplay. Typically after about 10 minutes though. I do not have these problems on any other games.
Most of my graphics settings were set to ultra. Sometimes the game ran smooth, but sometimes I would get microstutter and second long freezes, typically when enemies were showing up, or dialogue was about to start.
I tried everything that I could think of, but the only thing that helped in the least, at first, was bios update on motherboard. This stopped blue screening, but freezing persisted.
After patch on November 7th, I loaded the game with hopes of fix, but instead, I was getting freezing and computer restarting after seconds of gameplay, or during game launch.
During my restarts, I was deleting shader cashe folder, verifying game files, like I had done so many times before.
Eventually, I loaded the game, and all of my selected options had reset - like my configuration file had been deleted, although I had not touched it. After re-applying my settings (I believe exactly the same as before) my microstutter, and all freezing crashing has seemed to resolved. I was able to play for 5 hours without problems, and game ran much smoother overall. I wish I had solid proof - but I am guessing that there was corruption in my configuration file.
Another topic that was making my game unplayable that is now resolved:
I play with a Razer Tartarus, and originally I was unable to use the dodge/roll command. Several posts mentioned changing the trigger deadzone to maximum, but this caused control issues for me. The solution that worked for me, was plugging in an xbox controller temporarily, and remapping the "Ability Shortcuts" button of L2 with the "Navigation tip" button of D-Pad UP, as posted by SupaFlea.
