DirectX error (57242 -GPUBreadcrumbs:)

Hello all. Basically;

I  bought a fresh 5080. I made stress tests, benchmarks, and various tests, which were all good. I played some nostalgia games like bf 2042, call of Duty, cs go, etc, you know all the FPS stuff and it's all smooth. Crystal bright screen with 300+FPS if grap settings are set on low...After I decided to go back to the Dragon Age series and opened Veilguard. There were some weird colors during the first cutscene, but I didn't mind them since this purple tint on the game is already crazy. anyway, finally I was in control, and kaboom. Some weird colors on the screen and the  desktop crashes with an error ;

-DirectX function "Dx12Renderer::waitOnSwapChain Gpu timeout detected" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG(`The GPU will not respond to more commands``). GPU: ``NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080``, Driver 57242. This error is usually caused by the graphics driver crashing; try installing the latest drivers.
GPUBreadcrumbs:

So far I tried;

-Reinstall Drivers(clean)
-Reinstalled game
-Forced game to run on dx11
-disabled AA
-Disabled ray tracing
-Disabled frame generation
-Reduced resolution
-Reduced graphic settings to low

I don't know what to do. Please help me if you can...Appreciated and regards.

    I have checked the bios and chipset drivers. All drivers are updated. I tried clean studio driver but the result is the same...I got two screens would it matter?

  • I just realized Cyberpunk 2077 or Stalker 2 also not working. I added several steps more without success;

    -Reinstall Drivers(clean)
    -Instaled hotfix
    -installed studio drivers
    -Tried with a single monitor
    -Control panel maximum power mode
    -Reinstalled Xbox accessories etc
    -Reinstalled game
    -Forced game to run on dx11
    -disabled AA
    -Disabled ray tracing
    -Disabled frame generation
    -Disabled Hags
    -Reduced resolution
    -Reduced graphic settings to low

    The nvdia support stalling me...despite I sent them all msinfo32-dxdiag etc.

    It shouldn't, but you still could test with just one. (Do not just unplug, shut the PC down > Unplug > Start the PC again.

    Did you used DDU to clean install the driver?

    If the GPU is overclocked, (including factory side overclocking) set it to base clocks.
    If it is at base clocks, under-clock it slightly.

    After 8 days of try-fail, I discovered a solution. (semi-solution because you cant play in the framerate which your monitor provides ).

    The game crashes when you increase the refresh rate from the menu to over 120hz or just let it work on auto settings. (rtx 5080 aero - (mpg271qx 360hz monitor).

    Not just this game, but Baldur`s Gate 3 and Inquisition too. I am sure more modern RPG too...

    So, If you want to play this game with a fast monitor (2k-360hz), the game crashes when you don't set the Hz to 120. Not the frame limit option cuz that also doesn't work. The only thing working is to set the Hz to 120. (240hz also same issue).

    The steps before I discovered this solution were;

    -Reinstalled Drivers(clean)
    -Uninstalled drivers with display driver uninstaller(advanced -safe mode)
    -Disabled XMP
    -Disabled CPU onboard graphics from BIOS
    -Updated all BIOS, drivers, everything.
    -I tried the game without the Nvidia app and with
    -Instaled hotfix driver
    -installed studio drivers instead of gaming
    -Nvidia Control panel maximum power mode
    -Reinstalled Xbox accessories etc
    -Reinstalled game
    -Forced game to run on dx11
    -Forced game to run on Vulkan
    -disabled AA
    -Disabled ray tracing
    -Disabled frame generation
    -Disabled Hags
    -Reduced resolution
    -Reduced graphic settings to the lowest
    -Removed GPU vertical mouth and inserted GPU directly to MB (I thought maybe GPU vertical riser was malfunctioning).
    -Tried games in safe mode
    -FORMATED PC

    I got video proof(game running 2k-120hz-v sync on) and failed on the same settings when you increased the frame rate. I got all data if anyone would be interested. msinfo32, dxdiag, etc. This is a major issue in my opinion and its %100 diagnosis because I spent 8 straight days with fail-try methods. I just tried this on the rtx 5000 series so maybe it doesn't occur on other GPUs. In my opinion, this must be addressed through the developer team who is making the software updates. I already opened a ticket in Nvidia support. I hope they will mind this issue. If you know how I can reach someone in eagames technicians or somewhere with authorization, please do share so it can be looked after.

    I play all these games on a 165Hz 3440x1440 widescreen monitor @165FPS (DAtV @ around 140FPS) on a 4090 and don't have this problem.
    So there is something else in play.
    The driver for the cards are identical, so the problem might indeed be with your particular 5080, but it could also be something  completely different .

    The missing Windows Error Reports in your DxDiag shows that at last some problems exist in your Windows installation.

  • You are not the only one having trouble with the 5xxx series. I doubt it's your fault, especially after all the trouble shooting you have done.

    Just saying because on several other forums there seem to be a huge amount of issues with the new cards. I don't own one, but from reading it seems the drivers for the new cards, well, kind of **bleep**.

    Hopefully NV will get their act together. Some folks are fine, but the amount of complaints is huge.

    I guess they will get things sorted out soon - I hope. People like yourself paid good money for those cards, and some can't even use them. (In those cases it sounds like user error) but not you.

    Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. From what I've read this was a pretty bad release. Good luck!
