The patch hasn't fixed it for me. I'm kind of managing right now after a second bios update (I had to ask an IT friend to do it for me because the one I've done has not solved it at all; the internet was unhelpful as to what I was doing wrong :D), opening the game through the GeForce experience rather than Steam itself, and doing so in windowed mode only.
I have to verify the integrity of the game files every time, and then delete the shaders it downloaded again, and then start it through GeForce. It still occasionally crashes in game, but at least it starts, and I get a few good hours of play before the crash.
