Same issue here. game or PC crashes instantly after start. back to desktop or even blu screen with "clock watchdog timeout" - error. Seems to be an issue with the multicore cpu. my system i9 14900k, geforce rtx 4080 super, 32gb ram. I had this problem before patch 1. I had this problem after patch 1. and now its the same problem after patch 2. the solution after patch 1 was to delete the shader cache. but now everything i am trying doesnt change anything. all driver uptodate.

**SOLUTION for people with 13th or 14th gen Intel Processors**
While obviously I can't promise that this will work for you, after getting 2-4 CTD every hour for the last days since the patch, this is the ONLY thing that has worked, and it hasn't crashed since.
Update your bios. Especially if you have an Asus board. If you use the MyAsus app (Armoury Crate works too but its one of the worst softwares in existence) you can see your current firmware version. If you have anything older than I believe it was like 16, you need to get the newest. I updated to version 1805 and haven't experienced a crash since. It specifically even states in the BIOs updates that they added support for the newest gen Intel processors, so there's a good chance it will help fix other errors you might experience on your PC, too. Just go to System update, and download the driver there. Then use the renamer, then Run the .CAP file. You can either load it onto a USB, or depending on how new your board is, you can access your folders directly in the EZ Flash utility in your BIOs. Just hit F3 when you start it and you should be able to go from there. I assume its similar for other boards, but I have Asus so its the only one I know step by step how to do.
It might seem like a pain, but its 15 min of work that will fix the stability of your PC and -probably- fix all your crashing on DA.

Happens to me also. I’m on Xbox series x. It didn’t happen u til maybe 3 days in. But it always crashes on the first bottom right load icon, just before the BioWare logo and title screen.
ive noticed that when I turn the game on when I’m disconnected from the internet I have better luck. The. I just turn the internet back on after I get to the load/ continue screen. I’m assuming this could be a similar fix across the board.
i love the game, I just hate that it’s got a startup freezing issue.

This seemed to fix my crashes. Just played for about 1h 30min without any crash, I even closed the game by myself! Thanks a lot!

Hey Everyone,
Bioware has released the latest patch 3 for PC and Console. You can read more details in our post: Dragon Age™: The Veilguard Patch 3 (PC/Console)
Once you've had a moment to download it, can you confirm if this is still happening?

It's finally working, I had to reinstall it after the update (again) but it's letting me compile shaders and get to the main menu for the first time since Patch 1.

This is still happening for me, but it's not at startup - it's usually about 5-10 minutes into the game.
