Game causes my pc to randomly turn off after update3

after update 3, my pc will randomly turn off while playing. its only this game that is causing this to happen. im not over heating either. i turn the pc back on right away, run geforce and it shows my temp around 45c. i have an i7 and nvidia 2070 super 16 gig ram and a ssd hard drive. theres no stuttering or freezing leading up to it either. all the settings are set to low as well. prior to update3, i had no issues at all, not a single ctd. i have the game through ea app, and all other programs are off. all drivers are up to date

  • Same issue since patch 3 as well. I ended up turning down my power maximum to 95% in nVidia App and haven't crashed since. Same as everyone else, though, in that I don't have problems with any other game.

Possible still a PSU issue and something in patch 3 pushed the power usage more than any other game.

So I eventually crashed even at 95% further along the way consistently in the Lighthouse after a story mission. So I tried something different -- I actually put power maximum back to 100%, even did the auto-tune for overclock in nVidia App, just to see if i could get it to crash "faster", and while ironically it actually took longer to crash then the previous 3 times, it would still crash.

So I then set a 60 FPS frame limit in nVidia App for DAV and haven't crashed since. Perhaps something in patch 3 either raised a frame "soft cap", or if it ends up rendering too many frames too fast it's running into some kind of race condition or power spike? Not sure. Don't want to claim victory yet, but did want to share my findings.

I'll give it try. They just released U4, but nothing about the crashing issue in the patch notes. So I'll give them both a try

  • Make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date as well. I was having random crash issues after the first game update, saw that my BIOS needed an update, and the game has been running stable since. I have a 4090, 32gb of RAM, so I know the game isn't too much for my system, just needed that update.

i thought that too and went searching. but there is no longer support for my board. its weird that its only this game though. i can play other games for hours at a time not have any issues. its only been since u3. im just glad i signed up for ea play first to try it out and didnt buy the game outright

Have you ever experienced it before the update or just after? I had this problem a few years ago and it turned out to be not enough power. Had to upgrade my PSU.

it only started after u3. and it doesnt happen with any other game. i can play fir hours on other titles and not a hiccup, but this i can get about 10 min, then shutdown.

It still sounds like a power issue to me. Maybe the patch did something to increase the amount of power the game is using?

Does the PC restart itself sometimes as well when it shuts down?

I have the same issue.  Game crashes on launch ever since patch 3.
