I’m playing Veilguard on PS5, and I have a medium blonde preset hair color. It changes constantly depending on the lighting (despite looking fine in the different lighting options of character creation); for instance, sometimes it’s black, other times it’s brown, etc. The game seems to be running fine otherwise, but the hair color changing wildly is frustrating! Just wanted to report it in case others were experiencing it as well.
Same on PC, even with everything set to ultra. When the hair is set to non-strand it is the correct colour

Example of mine. Cut scene vs running around questing. Playing on PC. If anyone knows what settings to adjust, please share. I've tried fiddling with shadow settings. I just can't seem to get it to fix. I really want to have the strands on, but the only way I can keep her hair white is to turn the strands off and have the clunky hair without physics.
How did you get that white Ive tried everything and all i get is a medium grey at best
Very first color choice, zero saturation, 100% brightness. It's only white like this in cut scenes. Questing it's either splotchy or in very bright areas like Arlathan, it's full on black like the inset picture I posted.
Same on the Xbox Series X — I have it set to light blonde hair, but in a lot of the scenes it’s basically black
Same here on PS5, and it was so hard to get a light blonde in the character settings that wasn’t like…. Chlorine green, white or bronze
Yes.. playing on ps5. I can’t be blonde in game. Strawberry blond is the lightest and I game it is dark brown…. I truly hate it.
Same here, I’m very particular about how my character looks that it’s bugging me to no end. My character has dirty blonde hair and in cutscenes it’s mostly correct, but in gameplay it’s black, bronze, or a grey brown. When it’s selected as non-strand hair, as everyone said the hair color is correct.
I’m really hoping they fix this bug!!! 😩
Same here, also on PC, all settings are on ultra as well so lighting shouldn't be failing like this.
I noticed this too and as someone already mentioned it's tied to the 'strand hair-on' setting. The color is correct in cinematics but in gameplay it's way too dark. I'm also playing on PC.
Mine too. I have a white haired character and often her hair out in the world is showing as black with the strands on. It stays white with strands off, but I really want to see the hair physics. PC. I've played around with settings. Can't get her hair to not be black in most areas while questing unless the sun is directly on her.
Same thing happening on my Xbox series X. Also using one of the Lighter blonde preset, looks good in cinematic scenes but turns black in Arlathan and sometimes at the Lighthouse. Hopefully there will be a fix.
It’s doing this to me as well with every pink shade as well looking darker or cooler toned. Nothing looks like the cc color. Assuming every hair color is going to have this issue.
