So I do want to say I have had to start over, I was 30 hours into my first save, because I missed a companion quest and realize they are important for late game. So I decided to just start over. I’ve been looking into how to romance characters and keeping them alive while trying to stay as spoiler free as possible, but did see about how the choice for Minrathos and Treviso can cause bothe Lucanis and Neve to harden depending on which you choose.I chose Treviso in my first playthrough and plan to do it on my second because A, I decided to pick being a Crow as a background and B, I wanted to Romance Lucanis. People were saying that if you didn’t pick Treviso it would lock you out but now that I’m back and doing his first couple of companion quests, I realized something. The Bidding Farewell Companion Quest does NOT trigger as complete. So essentially not only does it lock you of of the Hero status for end game, but I also think it locks you out of the romance as well.Can anyone confirm to me whether this quest is complete for them? It’s the quest where you go to the little get together for the first Talon. I also checked my old save file and it isn’t marked as a Completed Quest there either.

It still doesn't answer our main question... Is it possible to romance Lucanis after saving Minrathous? Is it bug? or is locking him out of romance is intentional?

Hi!I believe that patch that was released yesterday finally confirms that if you choose Minrathous, you are locked out of Lucanis romance (it does first meniton it is going to be slowed before deciding). I believe that this was not mentioned in the pach notes.After saving Minrathous and completing conversation in Treviso, you get a new pop-up saying that you are no longer able to romance Lucanis.

Nice to get confirmation, but that's pretty upsetting, especially since you can still romance Neve if you choose to save Treviso. Guess I'm replaying like 25 hours of the game now.

This shouldve been in the patch notes and its weird that it wasnt, but I agree that it’s nice to have at least some confirmation now. And yet… there’s still the double standard with players being able to still romance a hardened neve AND lucanis has no time to pursue a romance with us anymore but hes got time for neve later, right? unless this patch also made this lock temporary like neve’s. if someone can confirm this that would be great, otherwise if its still locked permanently, then this is still an incredibly illogical and frustrating decision

I'm also in the same boat. 27 hrs in and was wondering why I could progress romantically with other characters but not Lucanis. I found this thread, checked it, and bidding farewell is missing from my completed quests list. It doesn't even show up as failed.
I also saved Treviso knowing that lock-out was possible so I'm disappointed that this bug happened anyway, but I will try repairing the game, maybe going back, and see what happens...

  Yeah I’m starting to think it’s not the choice that’s locking people out. Cause honestly that would be screwed up to let people still Romance Neve but not Lucanis depending on the choice.
  
  I think this bug is what’s causing it to happen, and it’s so easy to miss. I flirted with him everytime in my first playthrough but after I got past the Grey Warden quest, nothing else happened.

I'm only responding, not because I have a solution (unfortunately...), but to show that someone else has the same problem you do.
I haven't gone as far as you did, but the quest "bidding farewell" also didn't trigger as completed. Worse, once done, I'm prompted to select a new quest and "bidding farewell" doesn't appear anywhere on the quest log - as if it never even existed. Hope someone finds a solution :')

(I'm on PC, playing on Steam)

  Yeah I just did the quest, A Slow Poison, before just to see if it would trigger something and it did not. I also tried not having him the party when I triggered the convo, that also didn’t work.

Bidding Farewell doesn't complete in my quest log either.
Really hoping this is the only reason people are getting fully locked out of romancing Lucanis.

I'm having the same problem here too, on Steam/PC
Received the quest before even reaching to the point of choosing Treviso or Minrathous, did the quest, it was just a single dialogue scene (which was weird for me since the others were longer quests, walking to the city, etc), so I even thought the quest shouldn't have ended there, but simply saw that the quest disappeared. It wasn't on my log of completed or anywhere, as if it didn't exist.
Tried to reload the game and did again, same thing happened!
I'm afraid of keep going because if this is a bug and also his romance lock is a bug, I'd prefer to save Minrathous and still romance him, since I made a Shadow Dragon. If not, I'm just afraid to keep playing and not be able to do his romance at all. :(

interesting catch. i just checked my quest log after reading this and all the comments and i cant find bidding farewell at all. im trying to do a 100% run so i think ive done every quest so far and i believe everything should be in here, but alas, not this one quest. i hope this is the bug behind the hardened romance lucanis issue
edit: went back to an old save right on the bidding farewell quest, ran through it real quick, and yes it doesnt complete and disappears from the quest log entirely

  OK wait. The quest is still absent from the completed list, but I actually got the romance to trigger. Turns out I hadn't been visiting the Lighthouse often enough.

I just checked and yep, same (Steam, PC). The same thing also happened to me with one of Taash's quests - you go to the place, you have a single conversation, the quest disappears.

Same problem on ps5. I also noticed that when I load a save it skips quest steps. There were other quests that didn’t register as complete also but I can’t remember which ones.

The conversation is just an introduction to Lucanis. More can be triggered later in the game. It will not appear as completed in the tracker(journal) because it is not an actual quest or a side quest.

  I also have the same question. Since the warning is the same for both Lucanis and Neve (says relationship slows down), and Neve is romanceable after, is Lucanis being locked a bug?
  Particularly, it seems unfair to me that he would be completely spiteful about me choosing Minrathous (especially as a Shadow Dragon) and then fall for Neve, who's also in the same situation. Why would he hold a grudge against the Rook alone and go for her?

Commenting because not only am I having the issue of "Bidding Farewell" disappearing (on Steam/PC), but I also am not having other subsequent cutscenes trigger with him, so both friendship and romance routes with him are bugged out. For instance, when Spite tries to leave through the eluvian in Lucanis's body while he sleeps, I only get one cutscene when there's supposed to be a second one where you follow up with him.
This is the case for all of my playthroughs even after restarting the game and validating save files. It really sucks because Lucanis is my favorite and I can't even make friends with him. :(
