only slow walking or running possible

I can only either walk really slowly or run when pressing L3. Why isn't even normal jogging around possible? Exploration is no fun that way. :(

loaded a previous safe and since then it works as it should... don't know if that's related though but give it a try

  • I'm having the same issue with an Xbox controller on PC. I can jog if I'm doing horizontal movement but if I'm going straight ahead, it's a walk. I tried saving and re-loading but it hasn't helped. Adjusting the sensitivity helped with Rook wandering around without input but I'd love to be able to jog straight ahead 😂

Which Xbox model controller? I use the Xbox Series S|X controller, which replaced my Xbox One controller. That could be the issue, that is, if you're using an Xbox One controller.

  • I have exactly this problem. Have you figured it out? It's awful, and it only happens with a controller for me. Using a keyboard WASD is fine.

For me, the ability to jog is turning off and on randomly, it seems.

save the game and then load this save... worked for me since then!

  • Loading a save fixes the problem, but for me it returns. Movement with controllers is definitely very buggy.

Reloading definitely helps, but the problem does reoccur with some regularity.

Had the same problem, none of the above helped. It's definitely related to the stick dead zone. For some reason the game thinks that when moving forward you're not pressing the stick as far as you can. The only thing that helped me was decreasing the left stick's max dead zone. For example: before I had it set to "0-100", I lowered it to "0-80" and after that everything worked. I should note that setting the dead zone in the game didn't help, only in my gamepad software.

  • Has anyone submitted this formally as a bug? If not, we really need to. Developers may not even be aware of it.

Also having issues with this. Reloading a save or unplugging the controller and plugging it back in fixes the issue temporarily but it always comes back after a fight. It seems to me that the game struggles with switching from the higher movement speed in battle to the lower exploration speed.

I also tried changing the sprint to toggle as that should, according to the in-game description, make rook sprint as default if I I toggle it on. That doesn't work either though, as there seems to be no difference between the "press" and "toggle" option at the moment.

    Incredibly frustrating.

  • There's an option under controls > controller called "movement stick deadzone". Could you try adjusting this?

I've still been having problems with this. Reloading saves hasn't worked. Is this still happening for anyone else or has it been patched? Really unenjoyable playing the game like this.
