PS5 version keeps freezing

My game keeps freezing on character creation and I can’t even get in to play the game.

I’ve tried resetting my console multiple times, and tried changing the graphics to performance but nothing has worked. My PlayStation is brand new and has done all recent updates.

Some help would be great, I’m so bummed I can’t play yet.

    • If possible, share a Screenshot or Clip...

This stock cut and paste response is lazy and doesn't address the issue AT ALL.

  • Did you try to rebuild the database?  To do that, turn your PS5 OFF (not standby) and let it completely power off (no lights on the PS5).  Boot the PS5 into safe mode by pressing and holding the power button until it beeps twice.  When the PS5 boots in safe mode it will ask you to connect a controller with a USB cable.  Press the PS button.  Go to the Rebuild Database and Clear Cache option.  Select Rebuild Database and it should rebuild the database for your PS5.  Depending on how big of an issue there is it could take up to a couple of hours to complete.  For me it takes about 3 to 5 minutes.

For me I have had success in getting it to run by doing this and it will last for a decent play session.  Then it will have the same issue in a future play session and I have to go through it all again.  I have even deleted and reinstalled the game 4 times and after the third reinstall I decided to completely reset my PS5 and install for the 4th time.  But the issues are worse now for me as it will crash shortly after entering the game so I have deleted and reinstalled it for the 5th time.  Hopefully yours will fix itself once and you'll be done fiddling with it.

Mine is a standard console and I have similar issues.  Besides the code is the same in the game.  The variable is likely in the database as that will differ between consoles - as in what is saved in the console is dependent on the games installed, played and save data.  It seems to me that there is an issue between the game and the save functionality and the database structure.  When I rebuild the database it fixes the game temporarily until the save function does something to corrupt the database again.  You might try what I outlined below to see if that fixes it.

Oh, that sounds exhausting. I appreciate the help though and I'll try rebuilding the database.
