EA App won't launch, "Problem with shortcut" error pops up

Hello, I've been having an issue with the EA app recently. When I tried to launch it up today, I got an error message saying: "The item EALauncher.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved". I've already had some startup issues a few weeks earlier, but I still somehow managed to open up the app until today. I already tried running the app as an administrator and running an app recovery on it but nothing helped. I'm not very tech savvy either. I also noticed that I've now got two different folders linked to the app called "EA" (ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > Programs > EA) and "EA Desktop" (This PC > Windows C > Programs > Electronic Arts > EA), each of them containing different files.

I'm very confused. If someone could help me with this issue I would be very grateful.

Edit: I had no choice but to install the EA App on a completely new computer, altough it still sometimes has issues opening up, idk what to do at this point

    @d4rcyzz

    Below is the path to the EA app, navigate there, right click the file and then "Send to Desktop(create shortcut)"

    "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EALauncher.exe"

    Thanks.

    @EA_Barry I don't have any kind of file called "EALauncher.exe", instead there's one called IGO64.dll

    Go on EA site to download EAappinstaller, launch it and select repair

    This worked for me, hope this helps

  • This is the second time I've had this problem. The first time I had to reinstall the app. It seemed to have solved the problem. But now it happened AGAIN. The reinstalling off the app seems to only be a temporary fix. I hope this is something the EA help crew is aware of and is working on fixing. It shouldn't be happening to this many people. I didn't even get a new device for it to be moved, not in many years. So I don't know why it keeps happening. Anyone have an answer for that question?

  • Correction. It happened for the third time. Reinstalling the app is certainly not helping. Just a bandaid at this point. I never had this issue until this year.
