When in any game, the EA app on desktop does not open. Also, when launching a game the EA app will automatically resume paused downloads. This combination makes online gaming for any other game impossible while wanting to install something over time.

The in game overlay isn't for managing downloads.
I have the EA app icon on my taskbar permanently, when I tab out and click on it it does not open.
I have gone to check my "Pause downloads during gameplay" setting and it was already checked, so is not working.
Either way, I do not want to have in game downloads permanently unavailable. The issue is that even when I pause a download prior to launching the game, the download sometimes resumes the moment it launches (this doesn't happen every time following testing) and I cannot re-open the app to pause it (this remains true every time no matter what game I launch).
