Can't Link EA and Steam Accounts; Stranger Account Also Using Same Email

I am trying to merge my ea account and steam account so I can play Battlefront 2, which I just purchased. However, when I try to link them, it says that my email is already being used by some random person's account. The second account obviously isn't my account or a family members account.  I tried changing the email my account was linked to, but it told me the same account was using the second email. I play this game I just purchased and now i'm getting desperate.

Every time I try to launch Battlefront 2 it doesn't launch. The EA app tries to load but doesn't do anything (presumable because it doesn't see Battlefront 2 in my account since steam isn't connected) and stops launching the game. 

I have been entereing in email codes for the past hour to no avail. What's strange is that I've already played the game for just under an hour, and I've only now run into this issue. Could someone help me? I really hate that someone is using my email(s) and that I can't change that. I feel like I could punch through a wall right now.
