CPU still needed, still get a hard drive?

Hello everyone,

I bought a computer and I was excited to download sims 4 because my other computer seemed to never have any available storage to play despite having absolutely nothing on it. I can easily download sims on this computer, but it gives me a "you are running the 64 bit" and telling me to change it to 32 bit or my game will be unstable. I also found out that the 32 bit was removed. I looked at the requirements for the sims on their page and clicked the link to scan my computer to see if I met the requirements, and I failed for CPU.

3.3 GHz Intel Core i3-3220 (2 cores, 4 threads), AMD Ryzen 3 1200 3.1 GHz (4 cores) or better

You have: AMD Athlon Silver 7120U with Radeon Graphic

Should I still buy an external hard drive for CC and Mods (THAT ARE ALLOWED BY EA), or would it not work still because of my CPU?

    Hi jasonna23​ ,

    The message recommending the 32-bit version is outdated. The current version of The Sims 4 requires a 64-bit version of Windows, so you should remain on the 64-bit version.

    Your AMD Athlon Silver 7120U is an entry-level laptop processor with two cores and two threads. The current minimum CPU requirement lists either an Intel Core i3-3220 with two cores and four threads or an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 with four cores. Based on that comparison, your processor does not fully meet the listed minimum requirements.

    An external drive would only provide additional storage. It would not improve CPU or graphics performance, and adding a large amount of Custom Content or script Mods could place additional load on an already limited system. The game also normally reads Mods from:

    Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods

    Simply storing them on an external drive will therefore not automatically make them available to the game.

    Before buying anything, I would recommend testing the game without Mods or Custom Content. Enable Laptop Mode, use low graphics settings, and see whether a new save runs acceptably. If the unmodified game already freezes, crashes, or runs very slowly, an external drive will not resolve that.

    Could you also attach a DxDiag? That will let us check the computer’s RAM, graphics hardware, available storage, and Windows version before making a more definite recommendation.

    The game is completely laggy and doesn't seem to run normal. The loading screen sits for almost 10 minutes without any mods or cc and doesn't allow me to play at all sometimes. Below is my DxDiag.
