EA app - finding already installed games.

Hello.

I downloaded EA app after new Windows 11 install but do not want to install BF 2042 and other games again (  I have them on second drive)

Will EA app find them and only confirm files like old Origin app did or I have to install games from ZERO ?

  • Hey @in54ne71,

The EA app should locate the same install location you'd used in Origin and just verify your game files rather than installing everything from scratch.

If you had changed your install location in Origin, I would just be sure to do the same after launching the EA app by clicking the menu option in the top-left corner and checking Settings > Download > Install location.

You can also check this for individual games by clicking the icon in the top-right corner of any game tile and selecting View properties, which will let you verify or change the install location manually.

it should auto-detect installed game files if you install the game into the same directory. is just gave it a try with Mass Effect Andromeda. told it to Download the game into the folder where I had it archived and first spend a couple of minutes calculating and then started to download about 5GB of data the full game is 60GB.

  • This no longer works. All I can select from each of my games is 'download':

  • Morning!

Just purchased a new laptop and copied everything from the old laptop to the new one (both are MSI machines) - I can see the files in the c:/users/owner/one drive/documents/bioware folder; however, the EA app didn't find any of the loaded games - when I click on the 3 dots in the right-hand corner of any of the games in the EA library, the only 2 options I get are download or manage add-ons.  I don't get the 3rd view properties option...

I'm assuming I need to nuke the drive and simply re-download everything again?
