I have recently installed the EA app, as was recommended. Before with the Origin app I could choose the play offline, but now that is not possible anymore.My internet is currently down.I cannot open the Sims without opening the EA app, and the EA app does not work offline.Is there any way to solve this or to bypass the EA app?

So you’re telling us that you have to go online to switch to offline mode?That’s completely useless to those of us who are even asking if it’s possible to go offline mode, when majority, if not all, of those asking this question does so at a time when our internet is down.You can’t even access settings for the EA app without the internet, the only options you have is to close, minimise, or restart the app which does absolutely nothing because as stated, we don’t have internet access at the time.

I'm having a similar issue, but that won't really solve it. I can't access the app if my internet is down. So I can't put it in offline mod, because I can't sign in/get it load at all if I'm not connected to the internet. At the same time, my internet isn't always down and I prefer to play online for access to the gallery. So, is there a way to access the game if I'm not connected to the internet but I didn't turn on offline mod the last time I played. I know I used to be able to open and play the game even if I couldn't get connected to the internet when I was still using Origin. But ever since I moved to the EA app, I can't access the game even though it's downloaded on my computer, if the internet is down. It's really frustrating. The main reason I play Sims is because it's a fun game that DOESN'T require the internet. If I have to be connected just to load, then it's not really any different than any other game anymore.

Having the same issues as the above two (replies #5 and #6). I had to take a trip by bus...it gave me the "EA is offline" error rubbish. What an absolutely despicable move. I had logged in with "keep me logged in" at home before leaving and everything. This is a huge disappointment. What is the purpose in keeping people who purchase the game from being able to play if they don't have internet actively? What a disaster...I have been playing The Sims since Maxis. I am beyond disappointed.

It really is unacceptable that there's no way to play this almost-entirely-offline single-player game which is entirely downloaded onto my computer without using the internet to log in first. I bought The Sims 4 years ago because I remember playing 3 on trips when I—like many potential customers—had no internet access. I have enjoyed playing offline for those years, but I can't do that anymore because logging in requires internet access (even though my computer is supposed to KEEP me logged in). I can't imagine how tempting it must be now for people with limited internet access to just pirate the game so they can play it locally.This needs to be fixed.

I find the offline feature of the EA app much more frustrating and unreliable than it was with Origin. Playing offline without having to connect in order to go into offline mode is extremely important to me because, after a patch update, I wait until all the mods I use have been updated, before going online to install the patch. During this waiting period, if I cannot play without going online, then I cannot play at all until I am ready to update, because I cannot risk the game forcing me to update before I am ready to update.I am finding that the game will stay in offline mode for a while, but then randomly decides it can't be and I have to go back online to put it back in offline mode. Origin never did this to me ever. Once the "go offline" mode is set, it should stay that way. The game should be able to open while the computer is disconnected from the internet, as it could with Origin. Players should not have to repeatedly go online to put it in offline mode.

how do I play the Sims 4 in OFFLINE mode.. every time????

When I select offline ^^ as stated above, it specifically says it will place it in offline mode BUT the next time I want to start and play the game again, it automatically puts it back in ONLINE mode.
What the hell, what if I am not wanting to connect to the internet every single time I want to play the game. I have to connect ON-line EVERY-TIME I want to play in OFF-line ???

EA needs to make it possible for people to play the sims 4 without an internet connection and without having to put their app in "offline mode" which you can't even activate unless you are online which kind of defeats the purpose of going offline...

Today my EA.app decide to not start... Internet is OK but not this app, and is not the first time.
Sometimes i need to reinstall, sometimes i need to wait a day... other time i need to unistall, clear and reinstall (last time 2 hous of work!), so I can't play when i want...
So I've decided that I'll never buy anoter EA game after many years, my first EA game was "Skate or Die!" on Commodore 64 in 1988, long long time ago.
Now i've passed 50, so i can't wait a "perfect EA app" for play... is 2 years passed and the app i getting more worse, probably it wil be perfect at my 100 birthday!

I don’t think the EA game developers or representatives check these forum questions. It is now September 2024, and I am having the same exact issue. My WiFi is trash and unreliable so I can’t even update this game (for the second time in 2 months).
This thread was created nearly 2 years ago. 😑 And now Origin app is defunct so it’s not even a fallback option anymore.

I found out I had this issue last week when our Internet went out for four days. For four days I couldn't play a game that I spent over 1000$ on. This is not acceptable.

super disappointed that the team behind sims 4 has gone so low as to lock players out of the game if their internet is out. This is primarily a single player game anyways, this just makes me want to never play the sims again.

I want to complain about offline usage. The app is refusing to let me play my own game, and I assume it wants me to sign in. As of right now, my Wi-Fi isn’t working, and since the app can’t load the login, it doesn’t let me play the game.

@AvaFawnGamer Exactly, when it was origin I could open it and play it whenever. I haven’t had WiFi since Friday (it’s tuesday now) and have played sims somehow until this point yet now I’m unable to open the app at all, it’s extremely annoying.

Same issues - While traveling I wanted to play the game, but was not able to - I was at a location with little to no internet service and was not able to even open the app so I can switch it to offline mode. There seems to be no forethought on how that was designed. Very frustrating. I was forced to use EA app from Origin on my mac - and I have only had problems - app and game loading issues - I get the message "Things are taking longer than usual to load up. Hang tight while we try to solve the problem" each time I open the EA app.
