I can't change my ea desktop display name

I tried to change my ea desktop display name but it keeps telling me, display name contains a prohibited word or character, but there were no prohibited words or characters in the name.

  • @Classy_Human I found a solution.

Go into C:/Program Files, find the EA Desktop folder, and delete it. Then go into Add or Remove Programs, find EA Desktop and uninstall it. Reboot your computer. Then, reinstall EA Desktop and change your display name. Worked for me. Hope it does for you guys.

  • Same for me, and it made it my real name for some reason.....which is an issue. Please fix.

Changing the display name works flawless for me.

Do you try to use the underscore in your display name?
The underscore is a prohibited character, at least in the moment.

I'm also having the same problem. Trying to change the "display name" to anything at all results in the message Display name contains a prohibited word or character. I've even waited 7 days to try again. Nothing. I can change the EA ID on the website just fine, but not the display name on the desktop app.

They better apply a fix soon because people have their real names showing up in there.

Worked for me, If it says EA is running and it wont let you delete the files in C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts, don't worry about it, go to your windows search bar and type add or remove programs, go in and find EA Desktop, uninstall and reinstall it and it should work. I didn't have to reboot my computer but if it doesn't work I would try that. Thanks Shuros3n
