I'm still using Origin
I'm still using Origin as it still works for me. I've heard so many bad things about players being unable to play their legally purchased games on the new EA app. So much in fact that I don't want to...
At everyone......
And, ofc, they're still trying to kill the Origin client. Just got a popup today about upgrading again. But, you need to be closing those out and NOT accepting their upgrade. I then had to delete those 'OriginThinSetupInternal.exe's again. Apparently, they're going to keep trying to lock us out of a perfectly decent working client to try an force us into their newer invasive client.
From what I read, this EA app has been broken for the last 2 years, so i dont think theres any chance of it getting any better. So what now?
Its quite a bit scary, that they dont even seem to care about players not being able to buy DLC/microtransactions, for their games anymore.
So I updated the EA CrApp and all but my Steam games are gone. Still working on getting Origin to work. @Mardoin69 ty for all your help.
Perhaps if enough players gang up to form an angry mob, EA will agree to fix the problems in the EA app, or allow us to stay with Origin. This kind of player revolt happened with Ubisoft last year, you know. Ubi was going to shut down servers in some of their older games and they would have also deprived players of all the DLC content they had in their account. So even if you had bought a Season Pass for a game legally many years ago, you would still lose your access to it permanently.
It's in fact against the law in any EU country to sell a digital product and then rob the consumers of that content after being bought. It's basically a theft. You can check this somewhere in the website of EU. It is officially stated there. So of course gamers definitely weren't ok with this corporate *. The forums were spammed with hate messages and threats. Some people were even contacting lawyers and threatening the company with a class action lawsuit. In the end the gamers won. Ubi had to cancel their outrageous decision and those people who bought the DLC's before server shutdown got to keep the DLC 's in their accounts forever.
And now I'm getting the forced EA desktop app update. Sigh I wish I could just ignore it and play offline but sadly I realized I don't have all my games installed at the moment, so I would permanently lose access to them even if I decline the EA app update. I guess my only choice now is to just download the EA app and hope it won't break anything. It's really sad that EA forces me to do this.
I must have a really weird PC or just good luck because for me it seems the new app is working without any bugs so far. All my games are in my account. Both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V remain accessible to me. For some reason the new EA app even recognized my existing Battlefield installations from Origin so I didn't have to redownload anything.
