How about now? (I haven't tried it recently so just asking).
I usually use Origin offline for it's bad missing internet connection handling (IE that it won't go offline if it was online the last time it was used). Using Origin in offline mode at least ensures it can start later even if the internet is down (Also, rather ironically it has to be online to go offline...). I hope the new EA app will handle this situation more streamlined.

I'm able to play my games offline BUT I have to always go online to get in the offline mode. This is not necessary if I stay offline as long as my computer is on but when I shut down & restart my pc I'm automatically back online in EA. I can't find any method to save my offline status when I shut down my pc. P.S.- I never log out of my account when I shut down but I still have to go and log in again for each gaming session. It's not a deal breaker for me unless I lose my internet connection.

Hey @Sentry11313,
Hmm, yeah it does look like that is the only way to make the EA app work in offline mode at the moment. I will pass on the feedback.- rmvarillas3 years agoSeasoned Scout
I would like to confirm that the EA app will not open when there is no wifi. I’m currently without wifi and cannot get it or my sims 4 game to run.
Yesterday I switched from origin to EA before going on a trip. I would not have done so if I knew this was going to be an issue.
EA should be explicit in the limitations of its app before forcing it on players, who a) don’t normally play games that require to be online to function b) literally PAID for a game they now cannot play despite the fact that it does not require wifi to function

You really should correct this issue. Bought the game through steam which has offline mode and shouldn't even need the EA app to begin with because it's already a secured purchase. Second, I'll complain to the FCC, Congress and send a not to the White House and they usually follow up. There's no reason to block legally purchased content at any time period.

I’m just adding this comment to fuel the outrage and hoping that it will be noticed and something be done about it because I have also had this same problem trying to launch Mass Effect Legendary Edition offline and have found that it’s because of the EA app needing to always be online to launch. This is absolutely unacceptable to require this from a game that I own and have paid for.

Want to add my disapproval on this topic too.
There is NO way you can be serious EA. NO way.
Since years people tell you how they'd like to have it. You just give a f and do whatever you want.
LISTEN to us!
How can your freaking app be forced to be online? This is bs!
When going in offline mode it just "crashes" after some time and tells you to restart the app because it's offline right now. Of course it is! Because I wanted it to be! No other choices as to restart the app and again go into offline mode. Just look at the picture I added. For those who can't read german it says: "Connection is temporary interrupted. You're offline at the moment. Check your internet connection while we try to reconnect you (this could take a moment)." And the button says "Restart App".
Who developed this garbage?

If you own the game through Steam you should know that there is a way to open (most) games directly in the Steam app by bypassing the developer's launcher. So you can launch via Steam's offline mode instead of being stuck waiting for the EA launcher.
Go on your Steam Library and right click the game you want to open without the launcher.
Click on properties.
At the bottom of the 'General' tab, beneath 'Launch Options' you can see there is a text box.
In this box enter: --skip-launcher
You will only need to do this once per game and it can be removed at any time. Enjoy!
(This apparently doesn't work for every game but it has for every one that i've tried it on so far, including the Dragon Age games which are also EA)

This means Spending even MORE Money on Games that I now own 6 Copies of.
PS1 (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Original Disc (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - The First Decade (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Origin EA - Older Account (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Origin EA - Newer Account (Command & Conquer 1995)
PC - Steam (Command & Conquer 1995)
I've easily spent over £500 on all of the Command & Conquer Versions and Releases.
- 2 years ago@EA_Leeuw Unfortunately, while EA App CLAIMS to support Offline Mode, you have to have internet in the first place to log in to access the games.
THIS NEEDS FIXED!
Sorry for the caps, but this was the ORIGINAL ISSUE witht he EA Beta App, and it was never fixed.
My Sims 4 has every DLC through the forced change to the EA App, but neither me nor my kids can play it unless the computer is connected tot he internet to log into the EA platform.- WatrDragon2 years agoSeasoned Ace
Same Problem. Why do I have to go online to tell the app to go offline? That was never the case with Origin and why should it? The game (Sims 3) is installed on my pc and doesn´t need to be played online.
And why is the EA app throwing such a hissy fit if told to go offline. "Can´t reach the servers", yes, because you are OFFLINE. "Major error", no, again, OFFLINE.
I refuse to be forced by EA to go online against my will, anyway, what about people who just can´t? Just dont´play the game we payed for? No.

So the EA app minimized my game two times in a row to whine about not being online. Luckily it didn´t crash, but the Sims 3 suddenly collapsing to the desktop is really not good for my nerves. Make it stop please.

How does one acres it? I have no internet at the moment but whenever I launch Sims 4, I just get an ea cant connect box.

I'm sorry, but it really doesn't. I live in a very old house and the wifi does not go through the walls. As I am renting and there is only one place to put a modem, I have no choice in my internet set up. My personal computer is on the other side of the house so in order for it to have internet I have to have a very long ethernet cord which I then have to run to the computer. Now, that ethernet cord is used for my husband to work from home and is a dedicated wire, so I have to disconnect the wire from his computer, take it down a long hallway, plug it into my computer, pull up the app, put it in offline mode, take the wire back to his computer, pull up any of the various Sims games I own, and play. EVERY SINGLE TIME I WANT TO PLAY. To make it worse, most Sims games need to be restarted regularly, but the app crashes because its not online so to continue playing I have to go through all of that again. I usually can't because my husband is working and I can't disconnect the ethernet wire again. I used to play daily, not anymore. This is a huge problem. Many of us simply CAN'T be online all the time. Please please help us to be able to play our games. I have been playing various Sims games, since Sims 1, for over 22 years. At this point, I can't wait for Life By You and Paralives. This is what YOU have done to me. I was a loyal player, I ignored any and all talk of other games replacing The Sims. Now I'm running to them. This is on you. Thousand upon thousands of dollars I feel you are taking from me by preventing me from playing my games. Again, all future revenue lost because I will not buy any more Sims dlc until this is fixed and if its not fixed before a replacement game is released, then you have lost me forever. You have stolen not only my games from me but my love of them, and it breaks my heart.

Same thing here. I work offshore and have to use my mobile phone as a hotspot (which doesn't always have available service). When i put the app on offline mode it won't even stay there. If my pc sleeps or even just the screen turns off when i come back it pops up a login error and wants to restart the app. I love sims and madden, but i just can't bring myself to renew my playpro or to buy any games run on this platform until you support offline login. The origin app was perfect and you had to go tinker with it.

Please tell us how. I can't figure it out
- 10 months ago
Can you please show me how? Cus let me tell you internet service went down in my area and haven't been able to play any of my games cus ec: 201. All day without internet. No netflix or games that are install in the pc. What a surprise.

It’s 2024 and still need to login first to be in offline mode is frustrating.
I lost internet and my PC restarted. So I have no way of playing a SINGLE PLAYER GAME like Sims 4!
if EA is so worried about pirated why is there not a method to save the info that I own the game THAT I PAYED FOR!!!
So when my PC isn’t first logged in to go offline because in the EA’s logic you can predict when you will be offline(????) make it we can force it go offline so I can play MY game until internet is back.
Pretty safe to say this is just the way EA wants it
to be - as inconvenient as possible to push you to the edge of finding alternative means. That’s why support will come here and pretend going online to change to offline mode is a reasonable way to do it.
There’s fortunately a workaround.
Just cut all internet input entirely so this app from hell won’t understand it’s an option. That means disconnecting ethernet cable from the pc, removing wifi adapters or shutting wifi down from settings. Otherwise the app will see there’s internet signal and force you to connect to it even though there’s no actual internet coming in.As soon as you cut the signal and try to open the game or launch the app, it will let you play if the game itself isn’t an online game.
