Recognizing Steam Game Files on the EA App

Hello,

I have been struggling with a myriad of download issues specific to the EA app.

After failing to download Jedi Survivor for a 5th time this week, my friend who had previously played the game on Steam in April gave me his game files (Around 130GB),

These files are obviously missing a couple of patches, but the EA App is refusing to recognise them entirely. After a lengthy 20 minutes wait spent on verifying the files and preparing 37GB it proceeds to ignore those game files and restarts the download from scratch doubling the game size on my drive.

  • In my game Library Jedi Survivor is currently greyed out citing “an incompatible version of this game is installed on your device, uninstall the Steam version to launch”). I hope there is a way to make the EA App recognize slightly older game files downloaded from another game launcher (like Steam). Please provide me with an answer if there is. This was never an issue back when Origin was still running!
  • I have a slow download speed, so each attempt at downloading the game is taking between 3 days to 1 week. Recognizing older game files from Steam and downloading the updates seems like the best possible solution for me atm.

Thanks you for reading.

    HI @Skyrimfall

We would want to get the EA App to install Jedi Survivor from the start, What issues or errors were are you getting when you tried to install it before manually adding files?

  • Some of the frustrating Issues I encountered that I never previously had with Origin (or other game launchers like Steam and Epic Games):
1- Download stops due to an unknown error, and can only be resumed by manually clicking on "Resume" button. (EA App crashes constantly also, causing the download to stop)
2- Download inexplicably loses downloaded data sometimes, relaunching the download with a lower percentage of downloaded data (Example goes from 60% to 33%)
3- Download restarts after reaching 100%
4- Download stops, enters a never ending loop of preparing/checking/downloading/preparing etc.
5- Failing to recognize/verify previously downloaded data or game files

I have been trying to download Jedi Survivor for a month now.

Recognizing game files from Steam seems like the best and only solution for me at the moment.
