Too many computers have accessed this account's version of DisplayName field mis
One of the reasons why EA, and the people that work for it, are so universally reviled by gamers - why they have such vitriol heaped on them daily, even hourly - is captured by this error message:
> Too many computers have accessed this account's version of DisplayName field missing from the registry. recently. Please try again later.
This inscrutable, meaningless string is the error message that appears when you try to play a game that you own via a cloud gaming service. Cloud gaming is of course legitimate. However, if you close your game and reopen it more than a half dozen times, you can no longer play your game. Instead, you see this nonsense.
Not only can you not play the game that you purchased from EA, you are met with an error string that is actively hostile in its meaninglessness. It is, of course, grammatically incorrect as well. EA is so lazy in implementing anti-piracy measures that they cannot even form a coherent sentence. Competitors have been able to implement anti-piracy measures that do not abuse their customers, but EA is incapable.
If you call on their support people to resolve this, to allow you to play the games that you spent your hard-earned money on, you will be met with:
- Can you verify your email address?
- Try looking at this random support page.
- This is by design, complain to the cloud gaming service, nevermind that this problem does not occur with other games they host, only EA's.
- Can you verify your email address?
Hey @fatcat11111111 if seeing this issue I would recommend speaking with your cloud gaming provider to see what they can do to assist with this issue.
The EA mechanism is a security one to protect you from bad actors who may gain access to your system.
If you require a dedicated system or series of systems then your cloud gaming provider will be best positioned to assist with this.
