Why Does EA Force Game Pass PC Members to use EA Desktop?

EA should really have the option to port EA Play with Game Pass to Origin as well as EA Desktop. It makes no sense that EA is forcing everyone to use an unstable, "Beta" version of a launcher when they already have a pre-existing, much more stable, and reliable launcher. I get that they want it for testing, but leave that to the people who volunteer to contribute their feedback on their own accord rather than forcing everyone to do so. EA Desktop is extremely buggy and severely affects my games. First off, EA Desktop does not create Desktop Shortcuts despite mentioning it when you launch a game from the app. So you will have to literally go into your programs folder to create a shortcut for every single one of your games you install through EAD, that is if there is even a shortcut for the game in the file location (*coughFallenOrdercough*). You also have to reinstall the game -Which you also can't do through EAD by the way, only through Windows Program Manager- if you want to change the language of the game if it doesn't have the option to do so in-game, which is part of the removal of game properties and advanced launch options that I found very useful in Origin. On top of that, I've been experiencing network issues and severe performance drops ever since I started playing through EA Desktop. Trying to launch PvZ: Garden Warfare takes forever to launch (like 5 minutes later at least). And once I exit the game, I have to restart my PC or relog back into my user in order to launch the game again because it will not launch again after you've quit the game once. Star Wars BF2 has been experiencing network connectivity issues and mouse/UI bugs ever since I started playing it through EAD. Trying to connect to the BF2 servers with the "Connect" button is a trial and error process, and I have to disabled Discord in-game Overlay in order for the mouse and UI to function properly. I also experience severe FPS loss for every game I have installed through EA when that never happened through Origin. And no, it's not any issues with my system because I run EA Desktop with my games across three PCs that I own, and the problems are consistent for every single one. Really, it's upsetting that we can't port our Membership to Origin, or at least have Origin detect that we have a Game Pass account linked to EA. Why is this?

EA Desktop is the biggest piece of trash software I've ever used, really. I've been literally unable to play JFO because EA Desktop keeps giving me the "Your game failed to launch" message, despite multiple reinstalls, restarts, etc.
And I can't use Origin, the far superior client, because the Game Pass with EA Play only recognizes EA Desktop

@JackStillAlive That's exactly my problem. The fact that we don't have the option between Origin or EA Desktop with EA Play

I wouldn't call it a trash client or anything like that but in it's current state I agree people shouldn't be directed to it, they should at least wait until it's out of beta or have it as a secondary option after Origin.

@CarbonCarl Too bad Game Pass users are forced to use EA Desktop for EA Play titles(doesn't work through Origin).... so Jedi Fallen Order is literally unplayable for me, and has been for 4 days now thanks to that trash client.

JFO launches just fine for me on EA Desktop.

If a game refuses to launch it is not necessarily a Client problem.

@holger1405 It is a client problem. I’ve had no issues trying to launch the same games form Origin before, and the launching issues happen on multiple systems for me.

It also could be a problem in the communication between Game pass and the client.

This linking between Game Pass PC Members and EA Desktop is fairly new.

It will probably take some time until all problems are solved.

I understand that it’s fairly new, but what does the link between the two have to do with anything if all of the games are being launched and played through EA?

There must be some form of licensing between the Desktop app and the Xbox game pass.

If this license is not properly integrated it could be the problem.

I saw it happened before with Mass Effect 3, but in the end this is nothing but speculation.

The Game Pass integration is new, there's no reason why integrating that in Origin wouldn't result in bugs too.

Since EA Desktop is going to replace Origin it's rather silly wasting developer time on the Game Pass integration there too. Investing in getting it to work well on EA Desktop will be money spent on something that is going to be used for a long time.
