Why does EA launcher sign me out for using it on two devices?

I've been trying to get cloud saves working on my steam deck, which is frustrating and apparently impossible. Another frustration I stumbled into is that the app can't be signed in to my account on more than one device. Why not just make it so I can only launch games from a single device at a time, but I can still be logged in?
