I've never seen the friend import work. I followed your steps here and nothing. It still says "We couldn't load your XBOX friends." From what I've seen this feature doesn't work at all and has never worked.
I have merged some other topics into this one so that we have all reports from players that cannot import their Xbox friends in one place.

I just wanted to check up on one more thing, is the e-mail address on your EA account the same e-mail address that you used on your Xbox account (please don't share your e-mail address here).

Yes my XBox and my EA account are under the same email.
This problem persists even over on the Origin platform. My Playstation import is blue with a checkmark but no data appears. The best way I fixed searching for a player on Crossplay I needed to use the search and type in their name. This allowed me to invite them and add their EA ID if they had one.
Functionally - my Steam ID, my XBOX and my PSN all appear to not work for importing friends to EA despite the fact they are all linked properly. This function has never worked for me since downloading EA play. It could potentially be something wrong with the max friend add or the cap that was raised on XBOX that the EA Play app is not accepting due to too much import data. I have around 400 friends on XBOX.
It could also be that it is trying to pull data that Microsoft simply doesn't allow anymore.

I am having the same issue. I want to play with my friends on Xbox, but I keep getting a message "We couldn't load your Xbox friends", I have restarted, cleared cache and all that, still cant. I have my Xbox account connected as I have EA Play through Xbox Ultimate. Yes it is also the same email for both.

Thank you @BurialShroud for the extra insight.
@dragohnz and @Pickles75, do you also have a large amount of friends in your friendslist? If so, how many?

Hi Jason,
One thing I did notice with Battlefield and the EA App in mind is that when I added a friend who was on XBOX within Battlefield 2042, it put them in the EA friends category meaning it was cross platform but they had an EA Account. The app may be having issues getting the EA ID or EA profile of the XBOX content list as it tries to go through the enormous list of people. This could also be an issue on the side of the platform as well if they have a way to block API calls to grab data. This could be a security enhancement put in place to block hackers and inadvertently got mixed in with this.
I don't know a lot about the systems being used or the API's although I know that the app uses Restful API to make calls, but it could just be that it isn't able to get the EA ID's from the XBOX Gamertags that are linked in this manner of pulling in huge amount of data from the EA Desktop app.
I would ask that you file a bug with the developer and let them know that searching for gamer tags is working from within the game via the Battlefield 2042 search functionality, but not from the EA Desktop app. If they use the same API it could fix this issue across the entire app.
