Can't download EA play products

I just subscribed to EA play and tried to download both Battlefield V and Battlefield 1. The download never starts and I'm left with the following message: 

"You don’t have access

We’ve canceled the download because you don’t own this game. To play, go to the Game Hub to get the game."

I've tried clearing the app cache, logging out and in again and unistalling the app to no avail. I also tried unlinking my XBOX account which didn't do anything either so I just re-linked it. 

I have once in the past played these 2 games via Xbox game pass when the base pass gave access to these games, that's why the accounts were linked in the first place. Now I don't have xbox game pass anymore and both those games now require the ultimate pass which is much more expensive, so i opted to get them directly from EA app with the EA play subscription. 

I just want to get what I paid for.
