Can't Download Purchased Game

When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 10/16/2022 but has been happening for a few days since it switched to EA Play on desktop. 
Summarize your bug I purchased an expansion for Sims 4 and it will not download. I have tried clearing the cache within the app through the Help option as well as doing it manually as some people seem to have in the past found that helpful. I have had no luck, and contacting EA has been a mess. I would just submit a refund at this point but it doesn't show up as being eligible for refund. I'm just kind of feeling hopeless at this point. If I click download through going to Manage on Sims 4 itself basically nothing happens. If I search and go to the High School Years expansion within the store and click download usually the first time it shows a little loading circle for a split second then absolutely nothing happens. I wish I hadn't clicked to download EA Desktop, I had no idea it would then be impossible to go back to Origin or that the app was such a mess.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I suppose only if you also purchase the same expansion through EA Desktop and attempt to download it which I don't particularly recommend. I saw also someone mentioned if you download a free game then it will let you download your purchase and I tried that and also nothing. But it does confirm I can download other things, just not this. 
What happens when the bug occurs? Either nothing happens or on the product page when I attempt to download a circle appears for a split second and then it still doesn't do anything.
What do you expect to see? The game download.
