@ELxSIGINT @Rokebo73 I planned to make a recording also, but the recording from ELxSIGINT is virtually identical to my scenario, except for the fact that I see the EA login window for 1 second after launch, then nothing.
hmmm weird indeed, lets do some other steps !
move the BF2042 folder in youre Documents to youre desktop (dont delete , just move - *cut and paste*)
Now bootup game platform as admin and launch game, tell me what ya see happen.
ps could you both post a DXDIAG please !
Cheers

I did exactly what you mentioned. Ran the executable as admin inside the game folder moved/pasted to my desktop. EA App popped up then stayed open but the game disappeared from my EA Library (expected since the game was purchased or handled by Steam). Got a pop up from EA App that the game did not exist or was moved. I have included my DxDiag as well.

@ELxSIGINT thats ok, only launch steam as admin !
DO NOT START ANY OTHER GAMEPLATFORM !
If ya did buy bf2042 by steam , then opnly run steam as admin and start BF2042 in steam !ps i see 3 or more monitors connected ?
shutdown pc, and disconnect all monitors and test with only 1 monitor please, just to test , to check if graphics driver is making any issues some how !
Also for test make sure you only got 1 jeyboard , 1 mouse and 1 headset connected ,
disconnect any other hardware !
As soon game is is starting up and running , you could test hardwareby connecting 1 again and test game , repeat steps till ya found the issue ,
just to check if any hardware cause an issue !

@Rokebo73 Same issue, no start. I shut down the PC, unplugged 2 monitors and left my main one on. Made sure nothing else was plugged aside from essentials (keyboard, mouse, headset. Then plugged in my second monitor, then 3rd. all made no difference. I used to think this was caused by corrupted files but I verified it with Steam's options and have reinstalled it multiple times already.

Hi @Rokebo73 . I moved the folder and it has no impact on false start. Attached is diagnostic.

@Rokebo73 I've been thinking. Is there a step by step method to completely uninstall any and all traces of BF2042 from my system? I don't mean a simple uninstall. Because I find it weird that only this specific game does not seem to work even doing a fresh reinstall. And verification is not doing anything either. It could be a GPU driver incompatibility but I don't have the skillset to dive down deep into code to find anything. I only mentioned GPU driver since it was the last major update I did before the game went broken.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@ELxSIGINT yes with REVOUNINSTALLER.
Ill use the portable version, if ya start revouninstaller, ya need to start it as an admin.
then click the software/program ya want to uninstall (make sure ADVANCED is checked as soon ya clicked to uninstall, it will scan for registry key and file/folders).
Click the SCAN button to scan for any leftovers and delete them.
After uninstall ya need to reboot system.
Fot gpu driver uninstall, ya need to pre download ddu and gpu driver first.
Now disconnect PC from internet !!!!!
Then in settings / apps ya uninstall gpu driver.
Then bootup windows in safemode (with NO network)
Then run the program DDU (pre download also) and uninstall/delete any GPU drivers leftover.
After uninstall reboot system (make sure there is no internet connection available) and install new GPU driver!
Why boot without network -->> else windows Update will download and install a gpu driver <--- and we dont want that 😉

I have the same issue and my own thread open.
- 3 years ago@ZAYZ007 I have tried all mentioned solutions without any luck. Very odd that EA is not more(at all) involved in pursuing a solution for this issue.
Cancelling my EA subscription and giving up on this game. Appreciate the help and advice guys
