Can't Play Game: EA app not working

Question

I tried to open TS4 earlier and got a 'required update' notification. I subsequently got stuck in an update loop, whereby the update would finish downloading, I'd get a pop-up inviting me to launch the game, and then it would display 'requires update' and start downloading the update again, ad infinitum.

Steps taken:

Cleared EA app cache

Tried going offline then offline again, both via EA app and disconnecting from WiFi

Uninstalled and re-downloaded EA app

Moved Sim4 save and cc folders, uninstalled Sims4

However, now I'm trying to redownload Sims4 through the EA app and it got stuck on 4%. I tried pausing and restarting the download and got a pop-up message: 'there was an error with your download'

I run MAC OS Big Sur and I have the required available disk space.

Glad to hear it's not only me with this issue...so upsettting it's been weeks since I've been able to play. I miss Origin LMAO I never had issues with that app compared to the EA conversion mess

@MxJaimeGrey Did you manage to fix it? I did the same thing, I even updated my mac to Seqiuoua and I can't even download TS4, my library is empty, and I don't even have the search bar on the app. It's so weird!
