Ea app download bar is greyed out

I have come across this disturbing issue, basically whenever an update happens, and i press update, it stays like that for hours at least, i was trying to play fc 26 overnight and went to sleep, 7 hours later, no change.
It happens very frequently, whenever i need to switch the language for example, it also does the same thing, i sat down for 3 hours with gemini to help fix the problem, and it did a week ago, now with the update, i tried the fix, didnt work, i dont want to pull an all nighter every single time i need the ea app to download something,
I need a permanent fix.

  • Sorry to hear you're having trouble installing this update, and thanks for listing everything you've already tried. You can also try the following:

    • Open task manager, locate EA Background Service, and end task
    • Run the EA app as an administrator
    • Check for any background applications blocking the EA App
    • Try lowering your User Access Control Settings:
      • Close the EA app
      • Click the Windows button and type "UAC" in the search field
      • In the User Access Control window, click and hold the slide bar —slide it to the lowest setting available
      • Click Okay the bottom of the window
      • Open the EA app client and try starting the download again

    Cache & App Resets

    • Used 'App Recovery' to clear the EA App cache.
    • Manually cleared deep cache folders in `%localdata%` and `%appdata%` (EADesktop/Electronic Arts).
    • Closed EA Background Services via Task Manager and restarted as Administrator.

    Force-Verification Methods

    • Attempted the 'Language Switch' method (Manage > Language) to force a file verification.
    • Renamed the game installation folder to trick the app into a fresh 'Download' state.

    Registry & System Tweaks

    • Verified and modified Windows Registry keys (`Install Dir` and `Locale`) in `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Sports FC 26`.
    • Switched between network connections (Wi-Fi vs. Wired Tunnel) to rule out network-specific blocks.

    Reinstallation

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App entirely.

this was a complete list of all the fixes i tried, nothing happened

  • Hi, it’s been a while since I last heard back from you. Just wanted to check whether the issue has been resolved on your side.

  • As I haven’t heard back from you in some time, I’m hoping that means this issue is no longer troubling you. If you have any other questions or would like to share anything, I’d be glad to see you around again.
