This worked perfectly! whoever is the host needs to make their lobby PUBLIC. then the friend can "browse friends games" and find the lobby to join.

Still cannot invite friend in co-op game.
Friend also can't invite me.
We press Shift+F1 change needed friend, click on Select, window of overlay closes and nothing happens.
