EA App Not Launching Games - all the info I have so far
Earlier this year, I had reinstalled Mass Effect Legendary Edition. The game did not launch. In fact, despite attempting to repair, reinstalling both the game and the app, deleting caches, folders, checking the integrity of the system files, updating the GPU drivers, the motherboard's BIOS, etc, nothing worked.
Until it did. I had a suspicion it was because of the save data. Something related to the EA app not being able to prompt the user to ask if they wanted to replace the local save data with the cloud save data. Because I had made a backup of my previous save data files locally, I was able to put them in the folder where they normally are and -- voila, once attempting to launch the game, the EA app now asks me if I want to use the local save data or the cloud save data. The timestamps on those were slightly different as well. I picked the local save data. The game ran immediately, no issues, no hiccups.
So, with that said, I think it's very clear that the issue is on EA's side; not the user's side.
Fast forward to last night. I reinstall Anthem, knowing the servers are gonna shut down in January. I wanted to say goodbye one last time.
Today, I attempt launching the game. It doesn't work. I attempt all the good ol' recommended moves. Repair game, repair EA app, delete caches, folders, etc.
I notice one thing. The settings folder of the game did not get created upon attempting to launch it. You know, the stuff that tells the game what graphical settings, and other stuff, that it needs to use. Unfortunately, I did not remember to backup my old files. But I have no doubt that if I had them, I would be able to run the game if I placed them in the correct folder.
EA, please fix this issue. I've seen multiple threads about this over the years. I've been a customer for more than a decade. This is not an issue on the user's side.
