EA app update stuck at 0% (Mac)

Hi everybody,

I’ve been trying to find a solution for this but nothing that was mentioned in other posts worked for me, so here’s a new post for Mac users.

Yesterday I got a message that the EA app needed to be restarted because of a mandatory update. But when it starts downloading the update, it stays stuck at 0%.
I looked for a solution and ended up clearing the cache manually with a guide for Mac (I can’t do it from the app as I can’t click on anything because of this mandatory update message, and I don’t have options to delay the update or similar), but that also didn’t help.

Any ideas other than uninstall-reinstall?

I also tried turning off the WiFi to play offline (the sims 4) but the game doesn’t start.

Thanks so much!

  • I have been having this problem with every single sims 4 patch update since LOVESTRUCK EP.
i cant play the sims4 game, because "it has to update" i am unable to play it.
i al also unable to download the patch to update it.
it fails over and over every single time.
in the EA APP i have done the "HELP>APP RECOVERY>CLEAR CACHE" button
over and over. restarted the app over and over. nothing makes it download the update.
feel sick if i have to uninstall and reinstall everything every single time for the patch,
new DLC. you cant even talk to a real person about the technical issues. totally ignored.
or theres runaround pushing you around all these articles that dont fix the problem.
they seem to be really leaving MAC in the dust with the EA APP.

Thank you! In the end, I had to uninstall-reinstall the EA app. But luckily I didn't need to do the same with the sims, and now it works!!!!!!!
