Same here.
Played just fine, no issues.
Noticed that the app had again reset it's language, so I changed it to english. Since then it's crashing.
Things I've tried:
- relaunching it from the crash message/reporter (looking through the forum someone said it works for them after 4 to 10 tries)
- stopped all EA related processes and services and tried again. (I can see that the app starts, launches a couple child processes, then ends)
- quit and manually restarted it (from the start menu, from the EALauncher.exe in the install directory, from the EADesktop.exe in the same directory)
- tried to revert the language chance (using the user_(bunchofnumbers).ini in appdata. there is an entry called "location.language=" followed by an abbreviation of a language)
- deleted said user profile file (it launches and asks again for login, but crashes after I enter my data)
- used the repair app
- ran the EALauncher.exe and EADesktop.exe as admin.
- downloaded and installed the app again
- cleared temp files
- deleted all cache files manually
- deleted everything in %appdata% (in the "EADesktop", "EALaunchHelper" and "Electronic Arts\EA Desktop" directories)
- copied the files over from a machine where it works
- disconnected my network (it launches to a screen that says it has no connection, tries to reconnect, and tells me I can play games that don't need internet, followed by a very simple list of the games installed. When I reconnect it tells me I'm back online and need to restart the app to get access to online features, bu that only brings me back to the crash)
- manually ran the EAUpdater. in the install directory (It found an up date and installed it, but that didn't change anything)
And the most confusing thing is that it worked and even ran an update before it stated crashing. It started crashing after I changed the language, and even reverting that setting, removing all userdata or reinstalling it keeps crashing. And only on that one machine.
Okay, looking at the logfile, the thing that springs out to me is this line
Type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffffffff
