EA background services turning off automatically

Hi. Wanted to report this recent issue where I'd get an error with the EA app saying the background services have been disabled. I'd set them on automatic and restarted the services manually as well as cleaned the app cache. It works for a while but it takes less than a day to turn off again so I have to keep manually restarting it. I've not touched any settings or anything that would touch these settings as far as I know. I'm reporting this in case this is an issue with the app and not just my laptop. I can't tell because my laptop somehow also disables start up apps without me touching those settings. I've not seen anyone else report this but doesn't hurt to post this right.

I've been suspecting it might be CCleaner issue now that you mention it. Need to try and see if there's any options to change this behavior and if not I can try uninstalling it. I've also suspected it could just be windows being windows but I haven't been able to find people having this issue due to the operating system and every time I google the issue the result is that windows doesn't do it. However I wouldn't put this past it but that's beside the point. Can't remember if this issue existed prior to having CCleaner but it's easy enough to test. I'll report back once I've tried tweaking things.

    Hi there,

Thanks for sharing this. The EA Background Service should not normally keep disabling itself after you manually set it back to automatic, so something is definitely interrupting it.

Since you mentioned your laptop also disables startup apps on its own, this may be caused by Windows, a laptop power/optimisation tool, antivirus/security software, or another cleanup/optimiser app changing startup and service settings in the background.

    A few things worth checking:

    1. Open Services in Windows and confirm the EA Background Service is set to Automatic.
    2. In the service properties, check the Recovery tab and set the first failure action to restart the service.
    3. Check whether any startup managers, battery optimisation tools, antivirus tools, or apps like CCleaner/optimiser software are disabling services or startup entries.
    4. Try fully uninstalling and reinstalling the EA app, then restart the PC.
    5. If it happens again, please run the EA Error Reporter from the EA app and share the Report ID here, along with your Windows version and whether this is a personal, work, or school-managed laptop.

I have not seen many reports of this exact behaviour so far, but we can keep an eye on it. The fact that other startup apps are also being disabled makes me suspect that something on the system is changing those settings, rather than the EA app doing it on its own.
