EA linking to XBOX not working

I've been struggling trying to link my EA account to my Xbox account so I can play the Sims4 on both devices when I'd like. I don't currently have an Xbox game pass subscription, but I was under the impression that was not needed. It appears there is an issue with the webpage that "supposedly" is supposed to bring you to Xbox linking. The page says to "come back later" or "try again after refreshing". This is extremely annoying because this is the only way I can link the two platforms. All other link websites work aside from Xbox. If anyone knows a way around this please help!
