Actually, they left a lot more than just the FPS meter out. All the missing settings in the EA client was the whole reason I was P.O.'d about the forced changeover to begin with. Not to mention the fact a cuzillion ppl can't even play some of their games due to how buggy this client is. For instance, there's no settings allowing us to dictate where / what drive we want the EA client to be installed on. I personally keep all my gaming environment on a completely separate drive from my Op. Sys. C: drive. Not happy that EA forces all these various directories all over my C: drive. Even the Origin client did that to some degree but, you had 'some' control over it at least. And, that's just a start.....there's some other settings missing as well. But, that's just small potatoes compared to the myriad of issues ppl not being able to play their games....especially if they've modded them. What happened to the ability to 'NOT' update the client (and games if you wanted) then play in Offline mode? That way....theoretically we should be able to play our games without issue for the rest of time....more or less.....until they go out of business and we can no longer log into the client and no longer play our games.....god forbid that should happen.....which is why I hate being at the mercy of a game client to begin with.
Has anyone else noticed that EA has marked this as "SOLVED"?
I just noticed in my tabs on my browser that it shows this forum as a SOLVED case subject matter.
SO... Not only are they pushing this garbage app on us but now they are even spreading false hope that these issues have actually been
addressed and resolved???
Shameful demonstration of EA Games and EA Support DO NOT CARE about the gamers who are their bread and butter!!!
No.. I am not happy... As someone so elequently put it earlier here... I am so P.O'd over this... And I just responded to a support response
asking me if my issue and case have been resolved yet. I informed them that "NO! IT HAS NOT" and that NO ONE from support has even
made a comment about my attachment files (PC info they ask for on all support requests) about what MAY be causing the issue that has
prevented the EA App from installing on my computer. Now after more than 20 attempts it STILL fails to install.
Three different computers with 3 different Origin accounts and over 10 years using Origin and it has come down to this... And with the EA
App first installation attempt I was knocked down to a "NOVICE" user despite all of my history with EA Games and Origin.. Again. Shameful!

I won't be buying another EA title even it is to relive my misspent youth: Command and Conquer Remastered.

@LDWHThe forum moderators did not mark this topic as 'solved'.... I started a topic about Giving us back the Origin client. At some point, tom_looken posted a reply with a link which contained a work-around so we could continue using the Origin client. I marked that as a 'Solution / Solved' for my topic. Problem is, a bunch of these topics that were real similar were merged together. So....it probably looks like a few different topics are all 'solved' even though your issue is obviously not resolved. Your issue is certainly quite different from what my topic was about. And, you obviously need some more help with it but, I wouldn't expect a whole lot from EA's customer service tbh. I started a support case about why we're being locked out of the Origin client and asking them to remove that update which blocks Origin with the message to upgrade to EA. I got pretty much what I'm suspecting you did. Several different agents contacting me one after the other each time I'd respond telling them NO....their previous reply was of no help. Cuz, apparently they have very little comprehension skills and just parrot the same question and answer over n over again......which in my case was...."You need to install the new EA client app." Totally defeated the point of my support case of course. I'm sure you're getting the same sort of crap.
In your case....failing to be able to install an app is usually either Anti-Virus blocking it (or Windows Security) OR...there's already info in the Windows Registry from a previous attempt and it's not properly installing cuz Windows thinks it's already there. For the first....just create an exception for the EA installer. For the second, you'd need to go through your pc deleting all the folders for EA and then use a Registry cleaner....something like the free version of ccleaner for example....and remove all the registry entries for EA. Do a restart, download the EA client installer and try a fresh install of the EA client. Afterwards... do yourself a favor and get the Origin client...install it and apply the code line as described in this thread. Then use Origin client for running your games instead.

@Mardoin69When a billion dollar company tosses out a app and for 2yrs it has install issues and now as you said they are like yeah disable protection mess around with registry.
No one should be screwing around with the registry in windows unless you really half to if something screws up your never getting it back to 100%.
The disable protection goes to there knew data tos they have were the app acts like a virus.
also ccleaner is malware now i would no longer recommend that program.Avast owns ccleaner now this keeps happening

@Mardoin69 As someone who used to work online support: They're required to follow a script and if you go off of it agents shutdown. Most do not know what to do and it's why online support is awful in general. Especially since EA uses a third party company to handle support, at least I'd assume so (after all a third party company handles their social media accounts). Third party online support companies only parrot scripts and have no real access to internal systems of the company they're doing third party support for. We used to use them at my former job and even calling them to verify customer information was a pain and they were all insanely rude. One of the happiest days I had at that job was when we closed their contract. Our customers and us never had to deal with them again.
I have an issue where Origin updated my region to Germany and forced me to install German versions of games. The thing is I've never stepped foot in Germany. I've never stepped foot in Europe. Going back and forth with the rep solved nothing because they kept saying, "You live in Germany so you can't use the American client anymore." Despite me saying I've never been to Europe.
I think one of the ways that would help the EA client, massively, is giving us a full install. Everyone I know who had issues with the thin install has had issues once they finally got the thin install to work. However, no one knows why the thin install breaks. Tons of friends stopped playing EA games entirely because of this app. A friend was about to buy the new Need For Speed on Steam until they noticed the EA app requirement. Refused to purchase it. The app is costing them money.- 3 years ago
@ElvenmonkThey are loosing money but sadly there is a bean counter looking at the big picture and pc is tiny for ea i say that do to there mobile/console numbers we know off.
Yes there is alot of pc players and yes there are popular ea games on pc but console players love to spend cash on mt's alot more than pc just look at there sports games.
Ea themselves said ps5 xbox series console is only getting the "next gen" enhanced versions of sports gmaes do to pc's not being able to handle the tech but then showing how they make over a billion a year on console alone in sports games look it up.
I am pro origin it took years for that app to become what it is today but it started out way better that ea app. But at the end of the day like the drug companies its all about loss and profit.
Also correct me if i am wrong but after 10yrs? need for speed games on pc still can not run on high framerates without freaking out do to being shody consoles ports.
- 3 years ago@Mardoin69 About the Resolved. It had to be marked somewhere within EA as Resolved because this is shown on the website "Tab" in my browser. That typically means that the website you are visiting has attached a detail to the page you are accessing. SO. It may not have been the forum moderators but someone with site access and control marked it as a "Solved" subject to result in browsers reporting the page details to viewers.
And for Elvenmonk, and others looking..
I am looking for another link for it. The original link still shows it is for Origin but it has been replaced with the EA App!!!
So far most links I have found are for the OriginThin installer which is only around 60mb.
IF you find it with more than 60 MB then you can expect it is most likely the "Full" .exe install. And the download will NOT include the term "Thin".
I will keep looking and once I find it I will post it for you all.
In the mean time. Good luck to everyone! Keep up the fight for quality over rushed production!- Mardoin693 years agoNew Vanguard
@LDWHSo, the link I left in this forum IS for the full install....228mb
I'll link it again;
https://www.techspot.com/downloads/5783-origin.html
Also, I use CCleaner without issue. Sure, it has a bunch of settings that ppl consider 'Malware' (and there was one version that was kind of corrupted) but, you just go into settings and uncheck the boxes for all that extra junk like auto updates, news, etc..etc...and remove all their cookies. I just use it for clearing empty registry keys from apps that leave all that junk behind after an uninstall. It's never messed up my windows install. As long as a person understands what the Windows registry is / does and how to properly work with it, it's not a big deal to be making changes in it. If you're unsure....ccleaner even offers to make a backup of the registry before making changes. But, to each their own.....if someone don't like Ccleaner...there's other options. And, yeah....I don't like that Avast took it over now but, it's still a free app that does what it's intended to do. I wouldn't buy into it though as their other extra bells n whistles are kind of junk....especially it's 'driver update' feature. DO NOT use that....it will mess up your PC.
