@LDWHThe forum moderators did not mark this topic as 'solved'.... I started a topic about Giving us back the Origin client. At some point, tom_looken posted a reply with a link which contained a work-around so we could continue using the Origin client. I marked that as a 'Solution / Solved' for my topic. Problem is, a bunch of these topics that were real similar were merged together. So....it probably looks like a few different topics are all 'solved' even though your issue is obviously not resolved. Your issue is certainly quite different from what my topic was about. And, you obviously need some more help with it but, I wouldn't expect a whole lot from EA's customer service tbh. I started a support case about why we're being locked out of the Origin client and asking them to remove that update which blocks Origin with the message to upgrade to EA. I got pretty much what I'm suspecting you did. Several different agents contacting me one after the other each time I'd respond telling them NO....their previous reply was of no help. Cuz, apparently they have very little comprehension skills and just parrot the same question and answer over n over again......which in my case was...."You need to install the new EA client app." Totally defeated the point of my support case of course. I'm sure you're getting the same sort of crap.
In your case....failing to be able to install an app is usually either Anti-Virus blocking it (or Windows Security) OR...there's already info in the Windows Registry from a previous attempt and it's not properly installing cuz Windows thinks it's already there. For the first....just create an exception for the EA installer. For the second, you'd need to go through your pc deleting all the folders for EA and then use a Registry cleaner....something like the free version of ccleaner for example....and remove all the registry entries for EA. Do a restart, download the EA client installer and try a fresh install of the EA client. Afterwards... do yourself a favor and get the Origin client...install it and apply the code line as described in this thread. Then use Origin client for running your games instead.
@Mardoin69When a billion dollar company tosses out a app and for 2yrs it has install issues and now as you said they are like yeah disable protection mess around with registry.
No one should be screwing around with the registry in windows unless you really half to if something screws up your never getting it back to 100%.
The disable protection goes to there knew data tos they have were the app acts like a virus.
also ccleaner is malware now i would no longer recommend that program.
Avast owns ccleaner now this keeps happening
