I hope you understand how enraging it is to hear " You can't play unless you have an active internet connection. This is by design and you are not allowed to have sims installed and play on a computer that is not connected to the internet at all times"
It is a single player game. I understand you really want us all to not live in the woods, and you really want to push your face squishing update on all of us, but how can it be by design that if my internet connection stops working one day I am not allowed to play?
This should be criminal, tbh.
I would be playing the game instead of reading the forums about how bad the bug is, but oh, I am not allowed to play unless I update and potentially ruin my saves! So here I am.
- 2 years ago@Viddeliten I know this.
This is bad. Anf sometimes when your internet is fine but the EA servers ate lagging too much it is the same 😑- 2 years ago@666_Carbide_666 Sorry, I clicked reply on the post made by EA_Cade but their name didn't appear in my post. I agree with you completely.
- 2 years ago@Viddeliten I agree. Like people literally hate EA and they wonder why. I've owned this game for years and back in the origin days I could play it offline almost indefinitely. Now in 2023 said game is rendered unplayable unless I have an internet connection despite the game itself not needing any online multplayer functionality. I've just decided to download the pirated version. At least I can actually play the game when my Wifi goes down.

Yeah, seriously. Can we get a button on the launcher to play anyway without an update?
EA disables mods after an update, which is fine... and it's not that I don't want to update, but I'd like to delay a few days until mods are updated, then allow it to update.
At this point, I'm looking at adding a hosts entry or blocking EA.com on my router completely to manage updates for the Sims4. I hadn't played in two years and spent a couple days getting mods together - only to have them all break right after that because of the update.
All that was needed was a full day for the mods to be updated, but it would have been nice to skip updating for a day for that. I don't always have time to play - so getting shot down by updates is frustrating when I do have time.
I play Fallout and other games modded as well - this is ONLY a problem with EA games with the new launcher. For all the rest, you can wait a day or two to update.
Come now EA - that would be super simple to add. It's not that we don't want to update the game - but with mods, we really need to do it on our time table.

Gonna update this discussion too. New EA app version 13.335.0.5848 still doesn't let play in OFFLINE MODE. Fix it

DUDE deriously?
i playes over 10 games in origin client before ... all offline ..

thats scam by the way ...

Hi @Viddeliten, I've moved your post from the Bug Report forums as this is currently working by design, I've passed your feedback along as well.
Of course, because we all have wonderfully fast and reliable internet working 100% of the time, and there's never been a situationm in the history of mankind, in which someone wanted to play a single player game while internet is down because the ISP has issue, or the power is off but the laptop has a full battery, or while travelling on a long flight, or on a long train trip...
Who the hell thought up this asinine "design"? - 2 years ago@EA_Cade....with all due respect, this is a horrible response. My husband deploys at sea frequently and now won't be able to access one of his favorite ways to pass his limited downtime because there is no reliable internet access in the middle of the ocean. We have paid for a single player game, that doesn't need to be connected to the internet (outside of updates and the gallery), and it's never been an issue before. Now, after the forced switch to the EA app, it's suddenly by design that you can't access the game offline? This needs to be fixed, or redesigned, whatever term fits the narrative. So many people don't have reliable internet, it isn't okay to suddenly require people to be online to launch a game that's been offline-compatible for nearly a decade.
Between not having a download button for content I've purchased and being unable to play my offline, single-player game when your servers are down or I'm not on the internet, I'm seriously thinking it's time to avoid purchasing EA-affiliated products going forward. - 2 years ago@EA_Cade Im not trying to be rude but I have to ask you to please clarify this statement. It is by design that we cant access our Sims 4 game without internet now? I have every piece of dlc so I have paid a fortune to play this game. I live in a very rural area with limited internet, no cell phone access so no hot spot I can connect too. My internet is frequently going out. I deserve to access the game I paid for when my connection isnt working. Dont I? Again, Im not trying to be rude. Im just frustrated and trying to understand. Is there anything we can do to get into our game without internet on the ea app? Origin use to let us right on.
- GiardiniDiMarzo2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Simmy86 Not at the moment, because the EA app needs a internet connection to log into your account (where you're game+dlc are registered). After you successfully logged in the EAapp you can choose to go offline from the burger menu and then start TheSims4 offline.

But why? Thats what Im trying to understand. Origin wasnt like this. I could go days without an internet connection with Origin and my game would launch perfectly. All I needed to do was open Origin, it would place me in offline mode automatically, Id launch the game, and play. If Origin did this, why cant the suppose to be new and improved app do this too? It seems so unfair to have forced us off an app that worked to one that doesnt. Especially to those of us like me who don't have consistent internet service. We can't go back to Origin, they won't let us. We paid a lot of money to play the game and they need to allow us access. Those of us who are buying our game legally should be treated a little better ☹️ It's very upsetting. By the way, until the ea app was updated last time I could open it without internet service and it would go into offline mode automatically too so whatever they did, they did it recently. And thank you for replying by the way, I appreciate the response. I understand the app needs a connection, I just don't get why when it wasn't like this before, and it's frustrating me to be frequently locked out of the game I paid for because I live in an area without good internet.

I think they did this "By Design" to weed out piracy. There is no other reason in my book
- 2 years ago
the more they try to implement anti piracy measures, the more pirates will up the ante' legit users will only put with so much inconvenience and will eventually stick two fingers up at EA and look elsewhere.
- Sheepiling2 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Cade I'd really appreciate it if the intended design reverted back to allowing us to start the game offline without updating. I'd also appreciate the ability to access the EA App offline without having to update the app as well. I'd like to be able to access Sims 4 without having to update EA App or TS4 Game until I'm ready to do so, please! I usually like to wait until mods are updated before I update my game, so I play in offline mode a lot. Thank you!

This game has been an offline game since it came out. It’s not fair that you now have access to internet just to play it. I’ve been paying sims since the original release in 2001 and have NEVER had to have internet to play my games until EA forced all us simmers to switch to the EA app. Please pass this along! Simmers aren’t happy! They sold the game as a single player, offline compatible game. It should remain that way. It was that way from 2014-2022. Why change the requirements to play a game that had been offline compatible for 8 years prior?
At the moment i have No Internet connection on my laptop. It hard to play sims 4 when its asking me to connect to internet to launch up sims 4 when i have No internet.
My suggestion for the next update for sims 4 is to be able to Launch Up Sims 4 without having to be connected to the internet. Please and thank you

This is borderline theft. I purchased this game to play and Internet should not be a requirement to play. I recently had a hurricane in my city and am without Internet (have been for the past week). It is infuriating trying to play a game I’ve spent OVER $1000 on and I CANNOT because it requires Internet. ARE YALL SERIOUS?!!! When we had ORIGIN you could at least play offline, THAT IS BEYOND EVIL. It’s not right that a game I paid so much money for is unusable. It’s ridiculous that I can’t even log into the EA app. Luckily, I have data on my phone which is running out soon, to log in and give feedback. Honestly, what’s the point in buying any more packs now that I know they’re truly unusable without Internet (even though the game isn’t multiplayer). If you’re “leasing” the game to me with my purchase, I should be able to play it whenever.

And EA wonder why people are finding other ways to get their hands on game?, as the saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak.
This “feature” is absolutely BS. Absurd that I’ve given this group of idiots as much money as I have. Share THAT with the devs
