The EA App is a disaster. Every time I feel like going on a nostalgia trip and playing an old game I either have the option of spending hours troubleshooting or just not playing the game at all. I've not purchased a new game that uses the EA app and I have no intention of doing so at the moment.
Dead Space/ Plants Vs Zombies (see my post here) Re: EA App is an awful replacement for Origin - Answer HQ
This app has pretty much wiped out my game collection. This time it is the command and conquer series. C&C RA3, apparently I don't have a licence, or 'an error occurred our end' (no &^%^). Tiberium Wars, 'launching game', or sometimes 'preparing game'. What's the difference? It's a mystery, and judging from the 'answers' dotted around these forums it's a mystery to EA too.
This is not a PC problem. In our household we are fortunate enough to have 2 reasonably good PCs, one Intel/NVIDIA and one AMD/NVIDIA. This problem occurs with the EA App on both of these computers across 2 different EA accounts. (We were going to have an afternoon of C&C multiplayer, just for a bit of fun).
You don't need a constant stream of error reports and files from your users, you have enough. Origin may have been bare bones, but I don't remember ever having these sorts of problems with it. Your competitors are getting this right so why cant you? I use at least 4 other launchers/storefronts from other publishers without these issues.
As much as I'm excited for upcoming projects like the new Dragon Age, Mass Effect etc I wont be purchasing any of them if I'm forced to use them through this app. I simply don't trust it not to arbitrarily stop me from paying the games that I've paid money to access.
You need to sort this app out or other customers will start to vote with their feet. Better still, throw in the towel and use a competent third party storefront (you know the one I mean!)
Edit - also I've seen the 'advice' about running in administrator mode, disabling UAC etc. Stop it. You are telling people to compromise their device security because you cant fix your app. Again, care to name another app store that requires UAC to be disabled to run games properly?
