Lost access to old EA account, cannot link to Steam and play EA games at all

Question

My old EA account was linked to Steam, but the email for that old EA account is now not accessible at all (Microsoft no longer has this email in their system).

Now, I cannot link any other new EA accounts (like this one), to Steam in order to play EA games. I have a few EA games on Steam, and just bought a new one (Dead Space 3). But I cannot play any of them!

I have no way of raising a case for this as well, please help!

Sharing my experience to save any others some time:

I was able to speak with one of EA's agents, but they were not able to help - they don't even have a solution in theory. In short, if you lose access to an old EA account that's linked to Steam, there is no longer a way for you to continue playing EA games on that Steam account. I tried logging in to the old EA account via phone number and even my autheticator app, nothing worked (nothing reaches my phone, and the autheticator app code is rejected). I can't even attempt to verify ownership to delete the EA account that is now completely inaccessible.

Trying to link my Steam account to any newly created EA account gives this page, with no alternative solution.
